Win streak over, film at 11
Win streak over, film at 11
You knew this kind of result would happen tonight in Cal-Gary. A team with a five-game winning streak - playing well, but probably not that well - comes into a tough barn and gets shut out on a Tuesday night in October by a good home team. A win tonight just wasn’t going to happen. ...
Behind the Blog: Mile High Hockey
wingingitinmotown.com — This week, we talked to Joe at Mile High Hockey to learn more about the overlord of... the evil Avalanche empire. Game 9: Flames 3, Avalanche 0
Mile High Hockey — ... fell off.  Colorado lost to Calgary 3-0. The Avalanche offense couldn't do jack against Miikka Kiprusoff and the defense started allowing too many Calgary chances down low in the final twelve minutes.  Budaj wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but without the goal support from his own forwards, allowing three goals was more than enough to lose the game.  He could have allowed just one goal and still lost.  At least Dater was somewhat generous: Budaj was fine through two periods, but ...

Living In The Past- Avs Would Have Won With Roy & Forsberg
KK Hockey — ... Avs point. But he wasn’t the reason they lost tonight. The Avs just didn’t want to win this one bad enough. On an old Avs team, they probably still would have won this kind of game. Tied 0-0 entering the third? Guaranteed that’s the kind of game where Forsberg makes some kind of great play in the third, they get a garbage insurance goal and Roy makes it stand up in a 2-0 or 2-1 win. “We didn’t play too well, but we’ll take the two points,” would have been the quote from Roy or Foppa. more Filed in: ...

Game 9: Mike's Recap
Mile High Hockey — ... Dater can lament how the second goal put the Avs out of it last night, but when you manage a measly 1 shot on goal over 25 minutes (and only 2 in the third period!), any goal (good, bad, ugly) would have done that.  His little dig about late-game goals was unnecessary: ...
