Is there a more under-appreciated player in baseball than Randy Winn ? In his career, he’s been traded for a manager, then traded for Jesse Foppert , and now plays for a terrible Giants team where he’s regarded as a role player and wasn’t widely pursued by any of the teams looking for outfield help in July. ... Power is NOT inherently more valuable than any other type of offense. IE: A player who creates 25 runs with speed and contact has just as much offensive value as a slugger who creates 25 runs. However, whether due to the enhanced marketability of hulking bashers or a general misconception about the player value, power commands a premium well above its actual value on the FA market.
