The hits just keep on coming for the NHL and the Winter Classic. The ratings are in, and the Penguins/Sabres outing at Ralph Wilson Stadium on New Year’s Day got a 2.6 overnight rating and a 5 share for NBC. [link]

The NHL Winter Classic was a rousing success for NBC. The second regular season outdoor game in NHL history drew a 2.4 overnight rating on NBC yesterday afternoon, the highest regular season NHL overnight since Wayne Gretzky's final game drew a 2.5/6 on FOX in 1999. The 2.4 overnight rating is higher than all but one NHL telecast last season -- Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Ducks
