In case you missed it, over the weekend I posted interviews with Adam Reifer and Sam Freeman. Over at the Birdhouse, a poster by the name of highrent shares his firsthand take on Arnoldi Cruz. Saguaros 7, Javelinas 5 10/10 Shane Robinson continues his revival in the desert, going 0-2 but walking three times and scoring three runs. Brett Wallace struck out three times in four at-bats. It’s been tough sledding for the Walrus so far. Tyler Norrick was saddled with a blown save, allowing three (unearned runs) on three hits, including a homer over 1.2 ...

I’ve been rooting for a Dodgers/Rays World Series, so far it looks like I may get at least half my wish. And is it just me, or does Shane Victorino look like a young Ken Watanabe from the movie The Last Samarai? Only one game today, as the Hawaiian Winter League is taking a sabbath. We’ll also now be keeping an eye on Culiacan in the Mexican Pacific League, as 1B Francisco Rivera is the youngest player on the team. As most of you know, he’s one of my personal cheeseballs. Peoria Saguaros 11, Surprise 6 Shane Robinson hit an RBI single, going 1-5. ...

Arizona Fall League: Hello Beau!

Beau Mills Surprise 8, Peo Saguaros 6 ( box ) After clubbing a solid 21 home runs and 90 RBI for the Kinston Indians this past year, first baseman Beau Mills looked primed to make an ascent up the Tribe’s farm system.  As the A-ball representative for the Indians, the Arizona Fall League provides the team to see how their players look against a higher level of competition.  Though seeing some limited swings during the opening week of the AFL, it appears that Mills is becoming a little more comfortable with his surroundings.  After going hitless with a handful of strikeouts in his first three at bats, Mills is coming off of a two-game stretch that has seen him hit 3-for-6 ...

Peoria 6, Surprise 8 Tyler Greene, this time playing 3B, went 2-4 with a homer. So far he’s played three infield positions, I am starting to think the plan making him a super utility player. Derrick Goold has more on the newest Cardinal, Charlie Manning. I like the fact that it’s a low-risk move, and in spite of the Cardinals sending several lefties to the AFL, none are even close to being a slam dunk to making the roster. And how can I not root for a guy named Manning that is donning the birds on the bat? A great interview of Alex Castellanos done by Dustin Mattison at the Birdhouse.
