Derrick Goold has more on the newest Cardinal, Charlie Manning. I like the fact that it’s a low-risk move, and in spite of the Cardinals sending several lefties to the AFL, none are even close to being a slam dunk to making the roster. And how can I not root for a guy named Manning that is donning the birds on the bat? A great interview of Alex Castellanos done by Dustin Mattison at the Birdhouse. Another reason Jason Isringhausen isn’t an attractive free agent. He’s a Type A. Fingers crossed some team will sign him other than the Cardinals, but I’m not holding my breath. Peoria 3, ...

Justin Fiske is blogging. This time he talks about his repertoire, his move from the indy leagues to the affiliated minors and what’s been keeping him off the mound. Firstinning.com seems to have disappeared. I hope it’s just temporary, because I’m not sure what I’m going to do without FI. AFL In a slug fest, Brett Wallace walked, homered and struck out twice. He’s struck out ten times in the last 24 at bats. Tyler Greene went 0-4, walked, scored and struck out three times. Brad Furnish didn’t record an out, allowing seven runs on six hits and a walk. ALCS Game 7: It all comes down to this
Published 29 days ago by Mike A. at River Avenue Blues » River Avenue Blues, A New York Yankees Blog
It doesn’t get any better than this. The ALCS started as a best-of-seven series a whopping nine days ago, and after the two teams split games 1 & 2, it became a best-of-five series. Once they split games 3-6, it turned into what it is now: a best-of-one. Jon Lester takes the bump for the BoSox, and much has been made of his innings total after his stuff looked flat in Game 3. Right now he’s working on a career high 230 IP including the postseason, while his previous career high was 163 IP, set just last year. It’s no secret why Lester looked fatigued in his last start, a jump of 67 IP will do that to anyone. Rays’ starter ...
