With 4-1 win, Penguins push Flyers to brink | Philadelphia Inquirer | 05/14/2008 Links2
Three games into the Eastern Conference finals, the Flyers seem to have run out of lifelines. All the magic that had enveloped this team since April began is becoming a mere memory after the Pittsburgh Penguins pushed the Flyers to the brink of elimination with a 4-1 victory last night at the Wachovia Center. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Company are just a Thursday victory away from a ... [link]

Flyers Raise Expectations, Then Crush Them
Published 5/14/2008 at PuckUpdate
... They lost 4-1 last night, putting them down 3-0 in the series. The Flyers look totally gassed; they had just 18 shots on goal. And while the Penguins defense is much better than they get credit for, last night's Flyers loss was totally the Flyers getting in their own way. ...

A Philadelphia Flyers fan holds a sign reading "You're not that good" as Evgeni Malkin #71 of the Pittsburgh Penguins celebrates his team's 4-1 victory in game three of the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Flyers at Wachovia Center on May 13, 2008 in Philadelphia. The Penguins lead the series 3-0. I think the sign is meant for Daniel Briere.

It's All OVer But The Cheesesteak!

Without two of their top defesemen, the Philadelphia Flyers are simply not good enough to stop the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins forwards. I mean, when Sidney Crosby is your second best player, you know good things are bound to happen. Did you know that Sid's dad was taken in the same draft as Mario Lemieux in 1984? Small world!

Flyers Fall To Penguins At Home, In 3-0 Series Hole

For all the praise the Penguins get about their offense, their defensive prowess has been on display in this series, shutting down a strong Philadelphia team. Through the first two periods in game 3, the Flyers were only able to make 8 shots on goal. The Penguins have been able to disrupt the Flyers passing and have prevented them from getting much traffic in front of Marc-Andre Fleury.

Sam Donnellon: For the Flyers, the heart's there but the legs aren't | Philadelphia Daily News | 05/14/2008

THE HEART still beats. The legs may be dead. The Flyers skated off their own ice bent over and beat last night, conquered again by a Pittsburgh team that is now 11-1 in this postseason, a team that has made a parody of the parity the Eastern ...

Penguins/Flyers notes leading up to Game Four

Congratulations to Danny Briere for getting a point last night. Well done, sir. I see the chances of a sweep in this series are a little better than in the Rangers’ series. It really appeared like last night’s loss took the wind right out of the Flyers. But the Flyers are professionals, they’re not going to mail it in, they’ll give it everything they got. Having said that, a quick Pens’ goal
