MESA, Ariz. -- Asking Cubs manager Lou Piniella about the upcoming season had its lighter and more serious moments Thursday. Informed that Sports Illustrated picked the Cubs to make it to the World Series, Piniella responded: "Oh, God. They did? Let's hope that they're right. That's all I can say." Sean Marshall struggled again yesterday, walking 3 and giving up 1 run in 2 innings of work. The decision will now be made in Vegas, where the Cubs have two more games to go before the season finally starts. Carmen Pignatiello and Sean Marshall will probably get one more chance to audition for the job. As we've said before, we would like to see Carmen Pignatiello win the job, as he's been a reliever in the Cubs minor league system.
