... like ours were stuck with egg on our face when the true list came out without names like Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Varitek, and Rich Garces on it. I should have known it was bullshit when Rich Garces was on it. C’mon beast lair, damn! El Guapo on roids? What was I thinking? Anyways, we posted a lot of pictures of those players with the label “juicer” on it and that was probably wrong. So, being the bigger beast we appologize to anyone we may have upset. In the hours leading up to the release of the Mitchell Report, an e-mail listing the players about to be named was dropping into in-boxes around the country. It was a fake. I suspected as much when I saw the name of Rich Garces, a rotund former Red Sox reliever whose performance enhancer of choice was probably nacho cheese. But WNBC in New York ran the list on its web site. Worse, they portrayed it as a scoop uncovered by a reporter named Jonathan Dienst The station apologized but the damage was done.
