... Lowell, Schilling, Cards... and a little bit about the Cubs. From the Trib: I'm just going to share a couple of his more interesting sentences. Escobar, a real stud, hit .326 in 94 games while playing mostly third base for the Braves last season. A real stud, eh? And Phil makes himself sound even gayer: Schilling's a drama queen but has compiled a 3.93 ERA over 55 starts the last two years. Gordo gets the scoop on the Cubs' offseason plans If he managed to know ...

Despite speculation that Wood might seek an opportunity to become a starter again, he seems to agree with the Cubs that his best hope for health and success in the near future is as a reliever. He made a successful conversion the final two months of 2007 after another stretch of shoulder rehabilitation. Source: Chicago Sun-Times Related: ...

Cubs Rumors: Wood, Schilling
Published 11/3/2007 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
... Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times has a Cubs update for us this morning. Let's start with Kerry Wood, who would garner plenty of interest on the open market.  Despite rumors that Wood might look elsewhere for a chance to start, he's likely to stay with the Cubs as a starter. The Cubs are on Curt Schilling's list, and they'll be in the mix for him if his price is reasonable.  I take that to mean not much more than $12-13MM.  A cheaper option might be Hiroki Kuroda, ...

Bring Back Collusion? And Use It On A-Rude?
Published 11/4/2007 by Jeff Kallman at The MLB Source
... At the least, there’s a chance he won’t be in Chicago for at least one team: the Cubs, content enough with Aramis Ramirez, are just as content not going on a spending spree comparable to what they did last winter and don’t plan on getting into the A-Rude bidding—though they might ponder taking a flyer on Curt Schilling, depending on how the bidding (not even close to A-Rude level, of course) might go and where Schilling (who probably hopes in his heart of hearts to get one more turn with the Red Sox) seems to lean. ...
