Word of the Day: stone hands
"Hands...feel like... stone... " stone hands (ston handz) noun . A term used to describe the hands of a player who has extreme difficulty -- note the emphasis on extreme -- catching a basketball, dribbling a basketball, passing a basketball, and finishing layups. In some radical cases, the player can't even dunk effectively. The dunk, of course, being a shot that's successfully converted ... [link]

According to the Lakers.com Basketblog, Trevor Ariza injured himself in Lakers’ practice after landing awkwardly on the foot of Derek Fisher. After an x-ray today, it was found that Ariza has a broken right foot and will likely be out for the next 8 weeks. Ariza joins Andrew Bynum, Chris Mihm, Vladimir Radmanovic, and Kwame Brown’s stone hands on one hurting Lakers sideline. What does this mean for fantasy purposes? Well, the Lakers just signed free agent center DJ Mbenga to a 10-day contract today. Grab him for your team immediately. ...

Raptors vs. Lakers, 7:00pm

... Wow. Talk about a fleecing (but what can you expect from a team that just traded FOR Jason Collins? Who’s in charge over there, Isiah?). I just hope there’s enough touches for everyone. But how the Lakers got Pau by only giving away Kwame Brown’s stone hands*, Javaris Crittendon (because that’s what the Grizz need, ANOTHER young point guard), and a bunch of nothingness is beyond me. I’m just happy that both Kwame and Pau aren’t playing against us tonight…so who’s playing center? ...

... . And although it seems like he's been around (and underachieving) forever, Brown is only 26 years old. He's also seven feet tall, 270 pounds and pretty athletic (even if he does have hands of stone). As Hubie Brown likes to point out, you can't teach size. ...

30 Previews In 30 Days: The Detroit Pistons [NBA Season Previews]
Published 10/8/2008 by Basketbawful at Deadspin
... The Bad: Their biggest offseason acquisition was Kwame "Stone Hands" Brown. Curry is a rookie head coach with only one year of experience as an assistant, and even though this is a veteran team that should be able to police themselves, it seems to me they need a strong hand to guide them and keep them in line. This is particularly true since the team has a bad habit of succumbing to hubris and presuming they can just show up and beat anybody. That sense of entitlement has hurt them, and badly, in each of the last three Eastern Conference Finals against teams ...

Wallace good fit for Lakers?

Though no one among the Bulls is going to admit it, the beginning of the end for Ben Wallace probably came Saturday night. It was against the Pistons with Joakim Noah taking all the minutes down the stretch as the ball-deflecting, shot-blocking, offensive-rebounding, bad-free-throw-shooting, bad-hair guy. The notion is Wallace's contract, with two seasons after this totaling $28.5 million
