... a showroom. Yes, he's got moves, but he's going to be playing at forward against guys who are as big or bigger than he, much quicker, and way stronger. You can make all the moves you want, but if you can't throw yourself around and move people you're going to have a hard time in an NBA frontcourt. Plus I'm shuddering imagining his prospective defense. We've also hearing rumblings about attitude and coachability for years. All of that adds up to a big no-go for me." Word that the Timberwolves love Kevin Love. One of the greatest ...
Have the Pistons made a promise to DJ White?
Published 5/28/2008 by Matt Watson at Detroit Bad Boys
It’s that time of the year. From DraftExpress:
D.J. White may a promise from the Detroit Pistons at the end of the first round, according to sources with ties to the player. The Pistons have the 29th overall pick and may like the way White’s length and toughness fit into their team’s overall culture. They have not been shy in the past about identifying players they like early on and being aggressive pursuing them—having made a promise to draft Rodney Stuckey with the 15th overall pick right around this time last year, and reportedly also giving DeVon ...
Are the Detroit Pistons targeting D.J. White?
Published 5/28/2008 by Big A at Inside the Hall | An Indiana Hoosiers basketball blog
... That’s the rumor, according to a report on Draft Express. White will skip the NBA pre-draft camp, which could mean he feels comfortable about his draft position with Detroit and sees no reason to participate. ...

With the recent report from Draft Express that Kevin McHale hearts Kevin Love, I thought it was time to bring up an oldie-but-goodie:
Since the mood has been set with low bars and 4th quarter collapses, I proudly present to you the top 5 players of terror--the cold sweat nightmares that will keep you up at night with the haunting words of "And with the 4th pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select…"

... , who, in his prime, at Wisconsin was one of the best college defensive lineman I have ever seen. Injuries have totally wrecked his NFL career. The Last Word: Ugh, do I really agree with Kevin McHale? Yikes. The latest NBA draft rumor is that Kevin McHale -- who holds the No. 3 pick -- is high on Kevin Love, which scares me, because I agree with his assessment. I think Kevin Love was the best player in college basketball last season (and he does not have the Hansbrough-esque "will-stink-in-NBA" vibe). The T'wolves may not be an ideal fit -- TWO undersized post players? -- ...
McHale high on Kevin Love? NOOOOO!
Published 5/28/2008 by Big Blue Monkey (noreply@blogger.com) at I Dislike Your Favorite Team
But that's the word from DraftExpress . They actually use the phrase "locked in", as in McHale is locked in on Love as his favorite player. That is no good, man, no good at all. DraftExpress points out that "many" would consider Love a reach with the #3 pick. I'd amend that to say, "erveryone would consider Love a huge fucking reach. Why on earth would the Timberwolves draft the one position, the absolutely only position at which they have a guaranteed star in the making in power forward Al Jefferson? There isn't a single player starting for the Wolves who could not be ...

The European Prospects Mock Draft Review
Published 5/28/2008 by Christophe at European Prospects
... Up and down may be story for Omer Asik from Turkey. Draftexpress had recently a long report on him after they had the possibility to analyse his game for the first time. And the least one could say is that they were delighted and immediately put him higher in their Mock. this has affected Asik’s position in the Review as well and so he is slowly moving up again in the second half of the 2nd round. ...
Povtak: Magic Interested in Dorsey and White, Want to Trade for Second-Round Pick

... shooting guard (Brandon Rush, Chris Douglas-Roberts, or Chase Budinger) with that pick and then use their (hypothetical) second-round pick on a power forward. Sounds like a solid plan to me, as it gives the Magic young talent at their two weakest positions. From whom the Magic would obtain that pick remains to be seen.
I hope the Magic find a way to snag White, personally. I know nothing about his game outside of what DraftExpress tells me, but the fact that the Pistons have promised to draft him (HT: DBB)makes him appealing. They got Rodney ...
Woelfel: Bucks in Love?

... already lost 13 pounds and appears more explosive without the added weight, which is exactly what scouts and GMs will want to hear. The next test comes this week in Orlando when Love's measurements, leaping ability and quickness will be put under the microscope. If Love tests well in Orlando then the Bucks' interest will likely be academic, as logic would suggest someone will roll the dice on Love before the Bucks get a chance. Jonathan Givony at DraftExpress reported yesterday that Kevin McHale is already a big fan of Love and could take him when Minnesota picks fifth. That's ...

... DraftExpress - "There is already some talk that Minnesota will look to make a trade with Memphis GM Chris Wallace, who would then have the option of fortifying his front-court by drafting Brook Lopez at #3, or swinging for the fences and taking O.J. Mayo. Memphis could offer Minnesota the young prospect of their choice in Kyle Lowry, Hakim Warrick or Javaris Crittenton to help facilitate the deal. Wallace only has two more years left on his contract and needs to make as big a splash as possible in this draft to jump-start Memphis’ rebuilding process, meaning he could be leaning ...

... Throughout the draft process, we got the feeling like Minnesota’s staff was not enamored with Mayo as the third best talent in this draft, like he had been unanimously anointed by the mass media. Love was McHale’s guy, as we reported very early on back in May, and it was very shrewd of him to be able to get both him and everything else they acquired in this trade. Now we’ll have to wait and see what kind of player he turns out to be alongside ...
