No longer the Premier Program of the Pac-10?
Conquest Chronicles —
... the Nike money you want into a program but you still have to win titles. One Pac-10 title and trip to a BCS bowl is not going to be enough...even savvy Duck fans will tell you that. ucla loves to point to 13-9 but they still have NOTHING to show for it. Oregon will not be happy with one Pac-10 title...
The rumors of USC's demise is greatly exaggerated.
People need to understand that...
One loss does not spell the demise of a program.
EDIT: Here is Doc Saturday's take...
These are the Ducks ...

Ex-Nebraska Cornhuskers OL Aaron Taylor auctions off rings, Outland Trophy
There's a misleading headline. It wasn't actually Taylor who auctioned off his stuff, but another guy who obtained Taylor's prized possessions through a bankruptcy liquidation. Now someone besides Taylor has his Outland Trophy..... and probably doesn't even know where to put it. I have a suggestion, though. - CB

Shit, Georgia fan and sportswriter, I could have told you Urban Meyer was a bette coach than Mark Richt when Meyer got hired. Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out, though it’s no fun when it gets proven again and again if you’re a Georgia fan either. And you don’t often hear sportswriters basically saying the head coach needs to go very often either - Atlanta Journal-Constitution

... Beaten in every sense of the word. The good doctor’s piece on the numbers of the game adds ‘em up: no USC team has yielded anything close to the kind of yardage against anyone, even the Vince Young Texas team, and did all of their ghastly work on Saturday without the offense turning the ball over once. USC’s front seven was ...
Quack Fix: Poll roundup, the conditioned ducks, and end of the Trojan empire?

... the conditioning of this Oregon team. The Ducks wore down the Trojans physically (see Bair video after the jump). The changes that Kelly has brought to practice have helped turn the Ducks into one of the quickest and best conditioned in the nation. And honestly, their ability to run teams into the ground in the 3rd quarter reminds of of the USC teams in the 2002-2005 years.
The OC Register talks as if this game was the end of the Trojan Empire, and Matt Hinton backs that up with some pretty astounding numbers. The Ducks had a chance to do something ...

... The numbers don’t lie from an epic USC collapse- from a team loaded with talent but devoid of heart, leadership, and assistant coach continuity, and only the false bravado of a true freshman quarterback to show for it. ...

... And if you want proof that timing and reputation are way more important than records: USC is 10 in the human polls with two losses, Oregon is 14 and 16 with the same record. Not only did Oregon beat USC like no one else in the last 5 years, but they also have essentially the same exact resume: one win over a top 15 team, one loss to a top 15 team, and one inexcusable defeat to a Pac-10 mediocre squad. Nice, right? ...
