2/25 Post-practice Update
… Ansar Khan reports that Nick Lidstrom (knee sprain) could skate as soon as later this week and could return 10-14 days from today. 14 days would put him at three weeks from the injury, while 10 would be closer to the original estimate. Khan makes sure to address the “Internet rumors” about a possible Lidstrom concussion by assuring us Ken Holland and Mike Babcock are ...
What is this, high school?
Other teams spread their crazy drama across a season. The Red Wings held off until they could dump it all on us at once. Here are some notes from the past couple weeks: Captain Nick Lidstrom will be out 3 weeks after that knee injury . Worse than we thought, but hopefully manageable. Still, with an injury list currently consisting of a good chunk of the team - and the top three ...
Small favors department: Missing 3 weeks is better than the alternative

At Mlive, Kirk's nemisis Kahn is reporting the Red Wings irreplacable defenseman will miss 3 weeks due to a MCL sprain. My first thought? "Whew." But in the back of my head, I can't shake the thought that Lidstrom's injury will ...
Wings hope Lindstrom's knee ligament is only sprained
The Detroit Red Wings will know more Wednesday about the status of Nicklas Lidstrom . General manager Ken Holland said Lidstrom will have an MRI on the injured right knee, which the organization is currently calling a minor MCL sprain. "If it's an MCL sprain, that's a 1- or 2-week injury," Holland said. "We'll know more after the MRI. Nick won't play on this road trip ...
A Win, We Hope (Wings 4, Avs 0)
It was great to see the Wings win last night, 4-0 over the Avs (whom they have now not allowed to score a goal in over 200 minutes if play), but the evening was marred by Ian Laperriere 's hit against captain Nick Lidstrom in the first period. The hit itself didn't look necessarily bad, but Laperriere caught Lidstrom awkwardly and he went down hard. While the injury is being called a "knee ...
Red Wings 4, Turtles 0
Where have we seen this before? Colorado made their gamest attempt to renew their rivalry with Detroit. Of course it completely failed as the Wings easily dispatched the Avs 4-0. But team captain Nick Lidstrom was knocked out of the game so it remains to be seen how seriously he was injured. The good news is that initial reports suggest he only has a minor injury. Rookie d-man Derek ...
Lidstrom Out
Nick Lidstrom was hit by Ian Laperriere around the five minute mark in the first period.  Versus is reporting a knee injury, no report from Detroit radio. He was groggy when he left the ice and was escorted to the lockerroom.
