Is John Mayer a baseball idiot... who was in Japan?
Published 3/28/2008 by Dan Lamothe, Red Sox Monster at Red Sox Monster - MassLive.com
Monster find today by Red Sox Monster's newest favorite email tipster, NESW Sports . Apparently, John Mayer, floppy-haired crooner, may have been sitting behind home plate for part of the Oakland-Boston series in Tokyo. And apparently, he's either got a really warped sense of humor or he's a real baseball moron. Check the video: "... And then THAT happened!" I could get used to hearing that on ESPN, actually. Initially, I never would have believed it was Mayer doing the play-by-play, but a little poking around suggests this is the real deal. First, the video is posted on ...

John Mayer Is Better Than Joe Buck
Published 3/28/2008 by Matt Watson at FanHouse
... who scored some pretty sweet tickets to one of the opening games between the Red Sox and A's in Japan. Maybe he doesn't know much about baseball (or maybe he's just acting silly for the camera), but I could totally go for listening him for a game instead of half of the announcers out there who don't want you to forget that they know more about the game than you do. (And besides, Mayer couldn't possibly be more clueless than Gary Thorn, right?) (hat-tip: NESW Sports, via Red Sox Monster)   Permalink | Email this ...

Red Sox Weekend Update
Daisuke will take the mound tomorrow night to start the 2008 season... again... but alot happened over the weekend, so let's recap: The Japan trip took its toll on the Red Sox as they started their three game set against the Dodgers this weekend. The Sox mustered just 3 hits and 1 run in a 3-1 loss on Friday. The good news in Bartolo Colon looked strong, fanning 4 and giving up just 3 hots and ...
John Mayer knows nothing about baseball: “And… THAT happened!!!”
So this just goes to show you that just because you are a celeb or something, it doesn’t mean that you should be calling games. Just ask Dirk Nowitzki . Anyway, John Mayer was sitting behind home plate for some play by play analysis for the Red Sox/A’s series in Tokyo. Now I guess this is better than his blog but even so I hope he was attempting to be funny because he completely ...
Harden stars as another year of baseball in Tokyo comes to an end
We've seen A's pitcher Rich Harden as a star for a long time now, but it hasn't happened. This morning, over in the land of the rising sun; he pitched like one. Harden went 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 9 Red Sox hitters in a 5-1 Oakland victory. "Rich showed tonight against the World [Series] champions how good he is and how much we need him," ...
Game 1: Red Sox win wild season opener
Red Sox 6 Athletics 5 It took 10 innings and it wans't pretty, but the Red Sox won the first game of the 2008 season 6-5 over the Athletics. Daisuke Matsuzaka struggled out of the gate and walked 5 batters in 5 innings of work, but he also had 6 strikeouts and only gave up 2 hits - one just happened to be a home run. Matsuzaka had a chance to ear the win when Manny and Brandon Moss drove in ...

Oh No Sean Casey Is Out For The Red Sox Games In Tokyo?!?!
I really have to thank ESPN for alerting me and the rest of the world to Red Sox first baseman Sean Casey's injury that will leave him on the bench in Tokyo. I mean what would have happened if I didn't change my fantasy lineup in time?!? That really does need to be one of your top stories of the day (click for larger)..... What's that? He's a backup and probably wasn't going to care ...
