 Wright expresses dismay at losses
ATLANTA -- Through all that slippery slope sliding in September, all the moonwalking the Mets have done thus far this season and through most of what they have presented to their public since Mike Piazza's final swing of 2005, David Wright has been the face of the franchise. And he remains that now as the Mets stumble into the second quarter of their season. That face was different on Tuesday ... [link]

I Want Them To Be Ticked Off! (And They're Not?)
Published 5/22/2008 at Mets Merized Online - A Mets Blog For Real Mets Fans!
I love David Wright. He is my favorite Met and I wish we had more players with his heart and baseball drive... We might have such a guy in Ryan Church... Marty Noble from Mets.com had a great article this morning in which he showed us a side of David Wright that only adds to his credentials for being named team captain sooner rather than later. His comments regarding last night's loss were very telling and I sensed a bit of ire toward some of his teammates ala` Billy Wagner except not so overt. "Extremely embarrassed, I can accept losing. Not easily, but every team loses here and there. But to go out and give the effort we're giving, to go out and lose without a fight ...

Quote: Wright wants Players to be Ticked Off

David Wright, as quoted by Marty Noble on MLB.com, speaking after last night’s game… “I can accept losing.  Not easily, but every team loses here and there.  But to go out and give the effort we’re giving, to go out and lose without a fight…I just don’t think we have the fire I would hope we’d have.  The problem isn’t (with the coaches or manager), the problem is with us, in here…I want (my teammates) to take it personally when we lose.  I want them to be ticked off…If it was a matter of talent, it’d be different.  If we just weren’t any good, I ...

"I can accept losing. Not easily, but every team loses here and there. But to go out and give the effort we're giving, to go out and lose without a fight. I just don't think we have the fire I would hope we'd have." -- David Wright, being diplomatic enough to say that he wasn't talking about Willie Randolph, but quite obviously talking about Willie Randolph.

Opinion: Wright’s Cry for Help
Published 5/23/2008 by Matthew Cerrone at MetsBlog.com
As I wrote last night, a lot of frustrating moments occured during last night’s game, but what I felt the worst about was David Wright. He made a tremendous statement the night before, as quoted by MLB.com, in which he talked honestly about emotion, wanting to win, his teammates, etc., and then plays a horrible game tonight. In fact, it looked like he was trying to do too much. He had a rough night at the plate, in the field and on the bases, getting doubled-up on first base in the ninth inning on a line drive by Carlos Beltran.  I’m not picking on Wright.  I mean, every one is entitled to a rough ...

David Wright : Team Lacks Fire

Here was an extremely telling quote from David Wright last night that got overlooked: “I just don’t think we have the fire I would hope we’d have. Losing like this, I hope, would ruin their nights,” Wright said of his departed teammates. “I want them to take it personally when we lose,” he said. “I want them to be ticked off.”
