McAdam On Red Sox Trade Possibilities
Published 7/19/2007 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
... It seems that the Red Sox will add a bullpen arm despite the fine work of Manny Delcarmen.  Apparently they want someone with experience.  Eric Gagne doesn't seem likely, nor does Brad Lidge.  Instead, Chad Qualls, Dan Wheeler, and maybe Salomon Torres or Scott Linebrink could be acquired.  The focus is said to be on the Houston relievers.  Wheeler seems like a solid buy-low option.  You can add Octavio Dotel to the radar as well.  UPDATE: Today, ...

... and Octavio Dotel is available for a seemingly stiffer price, given the published demand for his services. I'm withdrawing my support of a Dotel trade if the cost of talent gets too high. Relievers just aren't worth that much, and I don't think that Dotel is that much superior to Ramon Ramirez to make it worth it. Chacon's harder for me to make a qualitative call on as he really is having a solid season, but my gut and bias after he bad-mouthed the team on leaving the last time tell me no as well. ...

... In trade deadline news, well, there isn’t any. Closer Octavio Dotel remains a hot item, maybe the hottest in baseball. The KC Star reports that the Dodgers, Indians, Tigers, Red Sox and Braves have expressed interest. The same item reports the Cubs are making a play for Zack Greinke. (Or, actually, the story says the Royals are denying a report by a Chicago radio station that the Cubs want Greinke. Whatever.) If the Cubs do get Zack, and try to make him a starter again, the kid will crack and be out of baseball in two years. ...

Trade Rumors - Chicago Cubs

... With that recognition aside, let's get back to that which does draw our interest.  Everyone following the trade rumor circuit has their eyes peeled on the Kansas City Royals.  With cheap veterans to deal, teams in need of almost anything can start in Kansas City.  This belief seems so pervasive that the Kansas City Star reports that the Cubs were inquiring about reliever Zach Greinke and that the Royals were open to dealing him - at the right price. ...

Soria is awesome

Nice victory last night, for once the offense wasn't singles-based, as we saw the boys bust out with some doubles too. Huzzaa! Cookierojas73's diary got me thinking, when was the last time the Royals had a reliever as effective as Soria? Maybe Andy ...
