Major league pitcher Joe Kennedy died early Friday morning while at home with his family in Florida, agent Damon Lapa confirmed to ESPN.com. The cause of Kennedy's death could not immediately be determined, Lapa said. Kennedy, 28, compiled a 43-61 record in seven major league seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto ...John Brattain posted 11/23/2007 from tonycastillocausedmyfacialtic.blogspot.com
The players need another Marvin Miller. The MLBPA and certain player agents have become the new team owners and GM’s of the post Messersmith/McNally era--they have too much control over where free agents decide to play and that is so very wrong. Soon a salary cap will come to baseball and quite possibly NFL-type non-guaranteed contracts unless the union pulls itself together. He instructed Rodriguez to not ...John Brattain posted 11/23/2007 from tonycastillocausedmyfacialtic.blogspot.com
At the same time, I feel a little guilty since I’m forced to depersonalize human beings into bits of news. Whether folks deserve what happens or not, it doesn’t change that lives are going to be affected. Some may enjoy seeing players get their comeuppance whether it’s Barry Bonds or Alex Rodriguez, but in the case of Bonds both friends and family will feel the fallout as well--and not just ...EvanAtMVN posted 11/24/2007 from mvn.com
With Alex Rodriguez remaining in the Bronx, Mike Lowell re-upping in Boston and Torii Hunter hitting the lottery with the Angels (30+ years old, career 104 OPS+ and $18 million per?) the two withstanding names of curiosity are trade chips: Miguel Cabrera and Johan Santana. I would keep our prospects and save our money. The Red Sox are in a position where they don’t feel as much lingering ...John Brattain posted 11/24/2007 from tonycastillocausedmyfacialtic.blogspot.com
