Los Locos Kick Your Ass
Published 6/16/2008 by Stuart Scotts Eye at ROFL Sports
Sorry all, I have been off a week for the birth of my second child. I luckily was able to give him the amazingly awesome Cubs middle name of “Clark Addison.” This kid will bleed Cubbie blue.
But, I am writing today to officially petition for the 2008 Cubs to be known as Los Locos. Remember Short Circuit 2?
That is the Cubs this year. 20 games over .500? Are you shitting me? That is awesome. Not to mention the first time they have done it since 1907. This team is cruising to the playoffs. With 92 games left this season, the cubs could lose half and still finish with over 90 ...
Molina Alright after Smashing Face
Published 6/16/2008 by Sooze (noreply@blogger.com) at Babes Love Baseball
Yadier Molina managed to avoid a serious injury after being taken out at the plate and carted off the field in a neck brace and body board. The St. Louis Cardinals backstop held onto the ball for his life Sunday night as pinch-runner Eric Bruntlett slid hard into home during the 7-6, 10-inning victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Molina showed plate umpire Tim McClelland he still had the ball in his right hand just before collapsing into a pile, laying face-down for several minutes. All of Molina's test results were negative, though he was held overnight with whiplash-like ...
Video: Bruntlett Lights Up Molina

We were reminded of two things yesterday: (1) Chase Utley is probably human, despite dining with the gods a few times a month, and (2) it's tough to be a catcher. Watch as Yadier Molina gets the brunt of Eric Bruntlett:
Yadi would leave the field on a stretcher, a pretty uncommon occurrence in baseball, but he's apparently OK with only a minor concussion. Gotta give him credit too—he held onto the ball and Bruntlett was called out despite there seemingly not being a tag, leaving the score knotted at 6 in the ninth inning. Then, just like that time you came home in cuffs, fathers everywhere were ...
Yadier Molina Collision With Eric Bruntlett [MLB Walk-Off]
Published 6/16/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Yadier Molina may have been knocked out, but Eric Bruntlett was tagged out.
This play essentially defined these two team's seasons to date. St. Louis has taken blow after blow, yet has somehow held it together to lay claim to the 4th best record in baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies have dealt their fair share of offensive blows, currently leading the East, but still struggle to hammer in those extra hits when needed. Philly left the bases loaded four times Sunday.
Somehow Molina maintained his grasp on the ball after this collision which resulted in a concussion. After leaving on a stretcher ...

Where's Hawkeye When You Need Him

You'd think the losses of Albert Pujols and Adam Wainwright would be bad enough for the Cards. Add Yadier Molina to the wounded list. It's enough to drive LaRussa to the sauce. Molina somehow avoided serious injury after this collision with the Phillies Eric Bruntlett at home plate yesterday.

Phillies face tough week ahead
Published 6/16/2008 by EnriqueFed (noreply@blogger.com) at ALL THINGS PHILLY SPORTS
After starting off with a sweep of the Atlanta Braves, the Phillies finished off their long road trip with a whimper, losing 4 of their last 6 despite out-scoring their opponents 37-23. Three of those losses were by one run, including yesterday's 7-6 loss to the Cardinals in the 10th inning where this happened: ...
Yadier Molina Is Concussed But Not Disabled
Published 6/16/2008 by Matt Watson at FanHouse
Filed under: Cardinals, NL Central, MLB Injuries, MLB Video, St. Louis We told you yesterday about the collision that hospitalized Yadier Molina, but now you can see for yourself just how bad it was -- the "best" angle of his vicious faceplant starts right around the 58-second mark. Although he was carted off on a stretcher and hospitalized overnight, he seems to have escaped without too much damage. Despite suffering a mild concussion, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Molina "is not likely" to be placed on the 15-day disabled ...
Yankees Player Cripples Self in Horrific, Light-Jogging Incident

“My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st Century.”
Woe be the New York Yankees, who today learned that staff ace Chien-Ming Wang will likely be sidelined until September after injuring his foot running the bases in Houston last weekend. Now I’ve never been one to editorialize, and I certainly don’t have the man-sack to stand up to 100 mph heat, but I can’t help but feel like this is stupid.
Surely it isn’t wrong to expect a ‘Professional Athlete’ be able to run 90 feet, largely in a straight ...
