Sprint Cup drivers got their first official race on the newly paved Darlington Raceway on Saturday night. Greg Biffle is on the poll smashing the track record speed. Carl Edwards qualified on the poll for the Nationwide Series race tonight with a speed of 176.994 MPH. Not making the race though due to a crash is Denny Hamlin. I was reading somewhere on the Internet where a writer referred to Darlington Raceway as a relic of NASCAR history. I found it an odd choice of words, especially since the word "relic" is often used as a not-so flattering reference by those born since the end of the Vietnam War.
