In other news, Ken Davidoff is reporting that the Yankees have signed 7th-rounder Kyle Higashioka, a high school catcher committed to Cal, for around $400,000.  This signing was expected, but I am not sure if it is official yet.  If it is official, Higashioka could wind up in the GCL soon.  Judging by the size of the bonus, he is somewhere between Austin Romine and Chase Weems as a prospect, adding another nice piece to the Yankees’ catching depth. ...

... Via Ken Davidoff, the Yanks have signed their seventh round pick, California prep catcher Kyle Higashioka, to a deal worth approximately $400,000. Rated the 77th best prospect in the state by Baseball America, they describe him as a superb defensive catcher with interesting power potential.
