George King reports that the Yankees are close to another minor league deal with another 31 year old infielder. This time, it's Chris Woodward, who spent last season with the Braves. He hit .199/.252/.279 in 92 games. His career numbers are .243/.299/.375. Finally, ...

... ). Regarding the search for bullpen help, George King mentions the team has spoken with Jeremy Affeldt and Trever Miller in addition to Ron Mahay. He adds, the Yanks believe Sean Henn may be a better alternative than any of those arms, since they are each said to be looking for longer-term deals. King also mentions a possible trade for Damaso Marte or John Grabow, both of whom are currently on the Pirates. The Hideki Matsui to the Giants rumor is all over the papers today. ...

Trade Winds are a blowing, A.K.A Rumor Mill
Published 12/7/2007 by Dave Harrison at Bucs Trade Winds
... An interesting rumor has come from Yankee-land.  No, not Marte to the Yankees.  There are multiple reports the Giants are in discussions, at least inquired about, with the Yankees on the availability of Hideki Matsui.  Depending on the source, Noah Lowry is the likely return.  I would assume some minor leaguers would be involved as well.  Here is one link to the story. ...

... next season. I’m wondering where the A’s are going to get the money to pay Bonds… RHP Mark Prior isn’t expected to accept arbitration offers from the Cubs, nor sign a one-year deal with them. It seems he will likely be traded. He won’t be available to pitch until June, however. I’m going to get ripped for this one, but I would give Prior a shot. Low-risk, high-reward… RHP Luis Vizcaino wants to stay in New York. The Yankees don’t seem to want him. ...

Winter Meetings Roundup and Where The Jays Go From Here

... We've all known about this proposal for almost a week, but for some reason yesterday George King, who I'm sure has his finger on Ricciardi's pulse and who works for the extremely trustworthy New York Post, declined to quote or name the Jays source he bravely claims says there was "nothing to the reports" that the Giants and Jays were even talking. ...

... three. While that one half of the season was glittery and spectacular, the differences are disturbing. He wasn't particularly overworked in the long run, either, with roughly the same number of appearances and innings as he's logged throughout the decade. So what's the problem? Who knows. While I still think he's someone worth keeping, I can see why, along with any potential arm problems, the Yankees are wary. What's scary, though, is that people inside the organization still like Sean Henn.
