The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees got absolutely rocked by the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of the double header by a score of 7-1. Steven White started for Scranton and he pitched poorly giving up 6 earned runs on 7 hits in 3.1 innings for the loss. David Robertson replaced White and he pitched 2.2 innings giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits but he also had 5 strikeouts. J.B. Cox replaced Robertson and pitched a scoreless 7th inning giving up 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were left-fielder Justin Christian who went 0 for 3 with 1 rbi and catcher Chris Stewart who went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored.

Game 2

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees completely dominated and dropped the “big” bombs on the Boston Red Sox minor league affiliate Pawtucket Red Sox and won by a score of 7-3. Starting for Scranton was Jeffrey Marquez and he gave up 2 earned runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings of work. That’s a lot of hits to give up. Billy Traber pitched the rest of the 6th inning and to two batters in the 7th inning without getting an out and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit. Scott Patterson got credit for pitching a perfect 7th inning. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton were a lot of players. The players worth mentioning are center fielder Justin Christian, left-fielder Brett Gardner, first baseman Jason Lane and short stop Nick Green. Christian went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi along with a big, great, awesome, I can’t believe it myself, home, run BOMB! Gardner went 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi along with a huge, game changing, point to the sky and call the shot, watch me dad I’m on tv, home, run, BOMB!! Lane went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 4 rbi’s along with a mean, I can’t believe I play this game for money, bigger than big, greater than great, most awesome, home, run, BAAAAAHHMB!!! Nick Green went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a face changing, game changing, war changing, I still can’t believe it’s not butter, home, run, BOMB!!

The Tampa Yankees beat the Veros Beach Devil Rays by a score of 5-1. Starting for Tampa was Michael Dunn and he pitched well giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 6 innings of work for the win but he also issued 5 walks. Replacing Dunn to start the 7th inning was Grant Duff and he pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit for the save. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa were third baseman Luis Nunez, first baseman Jose Gil and right fielder Josue Calzado. Nunez went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Gil went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Calzado went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with an awesome, holy moly, look at my pose as I hit the long ball, farther than far, every body rejoice, see ya later alligator, I can’t believe what he just did, hurt your feelings type of, home, run, BAAAAAHHHMB!!

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs won a low scoring affair over the Asheville Tourists by a score of 3-1. Starting for the RiverDogs was Noel Castillo and he pitched 6 scoreless innings on 1 hit along with 8 strikeouts for the win. Replacing Castillo to start 7th inning was Chace Vacek and he gave up 1 run on no hits in 2 innings but the run he gave up was because of a throwing error by shortstop Carmen Angelini. Jonathan Ortiz pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 12th save of the year. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were catcher Jesus Montero and shortstop Carmen Angelini. Montero went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2, “big” rbi’s and Angelini went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.
