I'm sorry, but this is not funny.  Think how shocking it must have been for the 10-year-old.  I'll bet he never hears awful words like "suck" at school.

Of course, if he had been 11 or 12, it would have been totally cool.

I doubt that "sucks" is the worst language you will hear when attending a Red Sox/Yankees game.

The Yanks suck. Sox have been in first place since the season started. The Yanks spent all these millions of dollars on "so called the best" and they can't even perform. Money well spent Steinbrenner. How dear someone write that and give it to a child their first time at a game, that's just poor sportsmanship. It's a child, grow up.....

I feel for the small market Red Sox.  They only could afford $100+ million to get a pitcher with a 14-12 record and a 4.41 ERA.  Someone call the waambulance.

Shelley Duncan should get some MVP votes for this.

Take a look at some of the reaction to this story about the Yankees' Shelley Duncan signing an autograph for a 10-year-old Boston fan with "Red Sox suck". Obviously, the guy is having a bit harmless bit of fun with the kid, yet people are actually calling for him to be suspended over it! Shelley Duncan Is A True Yankee

... They say that when September rolls around rookies have graduated to an in between level of experience. Something like floor 7 1/2 in Being John Malkovich, I guess. You aren't quite a veteran but you are more than just a greenhorn. Shelley Duncan of the Yankees, for example, is in just such a situation. He hasn't been up in the Show for more than a couple of months but he's playing on a team in a pennant race and can't be acting like he's wet behind the ears. If the way he signed an autograph for a young Red Sox fan is any indication there's not much chance of that. ...

Dejected ten-year-old die-hard Red Sox fan holding a message from Yankees slugger Shelly Duncan that reads simply “Red Sox Suck. I’m sure Duncan has been told that he and his mates “suck” (and probably far worse) by legions of Red Sox fans, many younger than the ten-year-old in the picture. ...
