As the non-waiver trade deadline draws closer, the Yankees were among three, or possibly four, teams trying to pry relief pitcher Eric Gagne away from the Texas Rangers. The question is whether general manager Brian Cashman will agree to give up one of the top-level prospects before 4 p.m. today. Last night, indications were that he would not.
