Yankees Negotiating With A-Rod
Published 11/14/2007 by Mantlemurcer at My Pinstripes
... remarks, are negotiating with Alex Rodriguez to return to the Bronx. There's one big catch though. Scott Boras cannot be part of the process. As for the money, it would have to be a below market contract to make up for the $21 million kick-in the Yankees lost from the Texas Rangers, A-Rod's previous employer. A-Rod approached the Yankees through a 3rd party mediator, and could still stop negotiations if pressured by Boras. Source

... that’s in his nature.” Madden has gotten things wrong in the past, but this is still positive news concerning the possibility of A-Rod staying in pinstripes. Pretty interesting stuff concerning Boras and Alex. My guess is that, since the market for A-Rod hasn’t been as tasty as A-Rod had hoped when he opted out, he’s pissed at Boras for possibly convincing him to do so. If A-Rod negotiates with the Yankees sans Boras, it might actually be a pretty reasonable contract. EDIT: Yankees set to bring A-Rod back - on their terms According to the first source, the ...

Yankees set to bring A-Rod back - on their terms According to the first source, the Yankees are waiting for Mariano Rivera to sign a new contract before finalizing any plans with Rodriguez, who is expected to take a 10-year deal worth roughly $275 million. That would be about $75 million less than Boras has been looking for, though most industry insiders believe there was never going to be a $350 million offer out there for Rodriguez. “Alex is going to be back with the Yankees,” the source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not been made public. ...

Are the Yanks Negotiating with A-Rod Behind Boras’ Back?
Published 11/14/2007 by TheBigLead at The Big Lead
... Not to get any Yankee fans overly excited … but it seems the door is more than ajar for A-Rod returning to the Bronx Bombers. The NY Daily News, through the use of anonymous sources, claims the Yankeees are talking to the AL MVP - but Scott Boras is not part of those talks. It seems as if the Yankees (or A-Rod?) have their ear to the blogs - negotiating with Boras is a waste of time, right up there with a land war in Asia. Why we’re dubious: Boras would probably fire his client for this, no? At any rate, it’s a win-win development: the Yankees win, ...

Will Alex Rodriguez be a Yankee after all? If it means he does it on the Yankees terms and without Scott Boras, then I'm all for it. And according to the New York Daily News , it might be an option. Arod's image has taken a hit recently due to his unreasonable contract demands, namely the price tag of $350 million. If Arod is willing to talk to the Yankees while keeping Boras out of the process, it's a step in the right direction. But let's look at this for what it is. Arod is an attention whore. The best way for him to stay in the spotlight is with the Yankees. The Yankees ...

Interesting goings-on in Slappyland
Published 11/14/2007 by Earl at The GYS Network
So what's going on with A-Rod? He announces he's talking directly to the Steinbrenners about returning to the Yankees, and apparently Boras isn't at all involved (the Yankees refuse to speak to A-Rod with Boras as part of the negotiations). There are two very different possibilities here: (1) he really wants back, knowing the best way to salvage his reputation is to take a pay cut (of at least the $21.3M the Rangers were going to pay him). (2) Boras is involved, but not directly - the Angels told him $30M max, less than he would've ...

Now A-Rod Wants to Return to the Yankees
Published 11/14/2007 by Charlie <info@buccosdugout.com> at Bucs Dugout
... Instead, one wonders who misjudged what here - did A-Rod's agent Scott Boras suddenly realize that nobody was going to pay anywhere near the $350 million he was seeking? Did A-Rod suddenly realize that this whole situation was making him look greedy? Did the Yankees, who seem mutually interested in having Rodriguez back, suddenly figure they could somehow snag a playoff spot next year, leading to their attempts to re-sign Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera and now Rodriguez? All of the above? Or none of the above?

Dear God, I hope so. | | I know what some people will shout.  "He wanted to leave!  He opted out!  He hates us!"  Whatever, I don't care.  I want to win.  I want a good team on the field next season.  Without Alex.....we have neither of those things.  Will we win the World Series?  Hell if I know, but I do know that we're a hell of a lot more competitive with him than we are without him.  I am sure there will be people beating their chests, screaming that the Yankees caved in.  Good.  I hope they do.  I hope they sign him and I get to watch him in my team's uniform for the rest of his career.  Live ...

A-Rod: Bronx Bound?
Published 11/15/2007 by Mike at Green Pinstripes
Thanksgiving is a week away, but the Yankees may be getting an early Christmas present to go with their turkey. It seems like Alex Rodriguez wants back in pinstripes. The third baseman reached out to the Yanks and it looks like the two sides are negotiating a contract to bring the two-time (and unless something radical happens, three-time) MVP back to the Bronx.  The numbers circulating have the new deal going for 10 years, $275 million.  So not only is A-Rod willing to take a "pay-cut" to return to the Yankees (the word was that the Yanks were looking to give Rodriguez an extension in the neighborhood of nine years ...

What A-Rod really said
Published 11/15/2007 by ETVal at Valentine's Views
Somehow, it all seems to make sense. Alex Rodriguez, the greediest athlete of them all, is apparently returning to the New York Yankees, the richest, most gluttonous franchise in all of sports. And A-Rod has pulled off the really neat trick of making it seem like the $275-million, 10-year deal he is reportedly going to sign is a discount. Amazing! Let's have a little fun analyzing the statement Rodriguez released to the media regarding this whole affair. Let's look at what he said, and what the words really meant. What he said: After spending time with Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an ...
