ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Crisis averted. Or put off for the moment. Led by yet another impressive start by Mike Mussina, the Yankees edged the Rays, 2-1, last night with co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner in the house. Steinbrenner's critical comments about the team and its effort level attracted much attention before the game. And Joe Girardi held a 35-minute team meeting in the clubhouse prior to batting practice. [link]

If anything was certain after Hank 's chatter rippled across the Yankee-o-sphere, it's that Yanks fans want results -- from somewhere, anywhere, and preferably now. Mike Mussina has been providing results, and did so again last night to help quell what was fast becoming a seemingly-ominous situation. In a 2-1 victory , Moose wasn't just getting lucky. He made people miss; four strikeouts in 6.1 innings may not seem like a lot, but that's more bats missing his pitches than has been the case since 2006.
