Yankees Sign Ponson
Published 6/18/2008 by Cork Gaines at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that the Yankees have signed Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract. The Yankees just announced that they have signed right-handed pitcher
Sidney Ponson to a Triple-A contract. Presumably, this means Ponson
will report to Scranton, but it would seem likely that he'd get a shot
in the Yankees' major-league rotation soon. Ponson was released by the Rangers on Monday, 10 days after being DFA'd for "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situations unbecoming of
teammates." ...

Bringing Back Sidney (and the Ice Cream)
Published 6/19/2008 by Jeff Kallman at The MLB Source
... The Empire Emeritus has signed the recently-cashiered Texas Rangers righthander to a minor league deal, and speculation has it that Ponson—who didn’t pitch his way off the Rangers but barked and harrumphed and attitudinised his way off (he was their best starter until a hotel incident and a run-in with manager Ron Washington punched his ticket)—would get the ball come Saturday in spite of reports that rookie Dan Griese would stand in for injured Chien-Ming Wang. ...
