Brett Gardner’s speed arrives in the Bronx.
According to Pete Abraham and Chad Jennings, the Yanks have called up Brett Gardner. Now I’d like to see how they are going to USE him. Don’t pull a Britton on him. How Girardi uses him is going to be interesting.
Gardner was hitting .287-3-29 with 34 steals for SWB. He had 11 doubles and 10 triples. He did have 68 strikeouts (one reason some bloggers are down on him) but what they don’t mention are the 61 walks (or, 60 more than Wilson Betemit ...

... I watched him play a lot in spring training and at Scranton a few weeks ago. There’s a chance he’ll get overmatched. But there’s also a chance he’ll add a burst of energy into the offense. That is why it is great news that Brett Gardner will be joining the Yankees today.
Gardner, 24, is a speedster who has drawn ...

Peter Abraham is reporting that Gardner has been called up to the big team. I recommended this move two days ago.
Thank you, Yankees, for listening.
Yanks to Call Up Top Prospect

... Peter Abraham is reporting that the New York Yankees are calling up outfielder Brett Gardner from Triple-A Scranton. He was hitting .287 with 3 home runs, 29 RBI's and 34 stolen bases. As you can tell by his stats he is a speedster with not much power. Some were calling for him over Justin Christian, but they may be on the team together if Alberto Gonzalez is demoted or switch places.
