Farnsworth let loose with a fastball, high and away and Wiggenton was off and running. Molina stood up, caught the ball and threw Wiggenton out at second, Jeter applying the sweep tag. One more pin, Farnsie. And the big lug came through, with a tight slider. Blum swung over it and the Yankees survived a night without Mo. Final score: Yanks 2, Astros 1 .

We have to give credit to Girardi for trusting Farnsworth in that spot (we probably wouldn't have), and we have to give credit to Farnsworth for getting the job done (even if it was a bit shaky). Though we'll admit, the pitch Farnsworth delivered to end the game on that strikeout was a filthy slider. Perhaps Farnsy rises to the occasion when needed.
