... came from Melendez's attorney. He was asked if he could see any Padre fans getting involved in such an altercation. "Frankly, I don't think Padres fans get that excited," he said. "Not to the point of physical violence. . . . I think the Padres' fans are more civilized." He probably meant it as a bad thing, being a litigious sort and all, but judging from recent events it probably keeps more than a few people out of the hospital.
