AJ Vaynerchuk +1Fine pick up for the Yankees. Sexson can still hit lefties, and he definitely still has some pop in his bat. -
BadenBall I live in Seattle, I can tell you right now, there's a reason Sexson was released, he couldn't hit water out of a boat. But, if he follows in the ex-mariner tradition, he will probably end up with 30 HR's at the end of the year.

mysportsrumors well baden, they picked him up for one purpose lefties, so he'll play once or twice a week if that as a starter. and serve mainly as a pinch-hitter late in the game. not a bad pick up especially when the Mariners are paying him-
BadenBall mysports, I agree with you on that not a bad pick up, especially since the mariners are picking up the tab. Just be ready for the boo-birds to start flying when he's on deck.

The Dream Came True: Richie Sexson's a Yankee
Published 7/17/2008 by Rob Iracane at Walkoff Walk
Get ready to boogie down in the Bronx on Saturday, folks...Richie Sexson is coming to town!
The Yankees will only have to pay Sexson the prorated minimum of $390,000 from his $14 million salary with the Mariners. Seattle is eating the remainder of the nearly $6 million Sexson is owed for the season.
Oh yes, Seattle...eat it up. Nom nom nom how good does that $6 million chunk of change taste? Do you need some crushed red pepper on that to spice it up a bit? Perhaps some fine Washington Pinot Noir to wash it ...

Once I had a Richie Sexson t-shirt

... However, now this. The New York Yankees have a 'tentative deal' in place with Sexson. That's the end of that t-shirt. Suggestions on what to do with it on a postcard. Meanwhile, what exactly are the '08 Yankees turning into, I mean, other than a huge, inflated, expensive joke? Sidney Ponson? Richie Sexson? What happens if they actually do sign Barry Bonds, should we start looking out for the 5,677 horses of the apocalypse? Really, it's so odd how the Yankees, once the blueprint for the perfect MLB team, have taken such a weird, wild and ...

I SAID SexsNO

... ESPN is reporting that the Yanks have a "tentative" deal to bring Richie SexsNO to the Bronx as early as Saturday. Is he really better than Better Mint? I'm assuming that's whose roster spot will be usurped. He actually hits pretty well against lefties - .344 average this year - which I admittedly did not realize when I first proclaimed my disdain for the very thought of bringing him on the team, so I suppose there is an outside chance that he can do something for the team. They only have to pay him a prorated chunk of the league minimum $390K, so even if he winds ...

Yanks Reach Agreement With Richie Sexson
Published 7/17/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (J-Boogie) at Baseball & The Boogie Down
It's being reported that the Yankees have reached a tentative agreement with recently released slugger Richie Sexson. While I'm not a big Sexson fan, the move makes sense. The Yanks are desperate for a right handed bat with some pop and they get that with Sexson. Sexson is having a good year against LHPs - .344 AVG/.423 OBP/.623 SLG. For his career, Sexson is .265/.369/.510. The Yanks have a league leading 1031 ABs against LHPs this year. ...

Many of us knew it would happen.
Buster Olney is reporting the Yankees and Richie Sexson have reached a tentative agreement.
Sexson fits in New York because the Yankees needed a right-handed slugger to match up against left-handed pitching -- and Sexson had a .344 average against lefties this year.
Assuming the deal is completed, he'll be in the lineup Saturday against Oakland.

Yankees Sign Richie Sexson

The New York Yankees have come to terms with first-baseman Richie Sexson, who was released by the Seattle Mariners a week ago. General Manager Brian Cashman believes that Sexson can help the club against left-handers, something that they have had some trouble with. In 71 at-bats against left-handers this year, Richie is hitting .344.
