Mets Sink Wang and Yankees 11-2
Posted 5/19/2008 on My Pinstripes
Chien-Ming Wang set the first 9 Mets down in order last night as if he were toying with them. One ground out after another. Even when Jose Reyes lead off the 4th inning with a double it seemed like no big deal. Wang got Marlon Anderson to hit a comebacker and Reyes was nailed trying to go to 3rd Base. If Yankee Stadium had a roof over it, it would have collapsed at that moment. The Mets ...Yankees' subway crash

Yankees' ace Chien -Ming Wang took the mound, in the Bronx, last night looking to stop the latest slide. He matched up with Oliver Perez, a lefty with a reputation of being, "maddeningly inconsistent." Perez's underachieving teammates are managed by Willie Randolph, "Who may be too quiet and too dignified for the Met's job."-- Gammons . Advantage Yankees? Not so fast. The sky may not be falling in Yankee Land just yet, but it's getting mighty heavy. Chien-Ming Wang fell apart after a promising beginning, the offense managed only three hits and Jose Reyes and Moises Alou combined to drive in six runs as the Mets spanked the Yanks 11-2 in the Bronx. The Yanks actually caught a break in this one when Carlos Delgado's shot down the left field line was ...The Yankees Are A Great Team, If It Weren't For All Those Mistakes: Mets 11, Yankees 2

The Sunday night ESPN game of the week, and I only heard about a half-hour of the game, total, but what an embarrassment the radio announcers were. Dave Campbell in particular was just awful, on no fewers than three occasions mentioning how Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang was just "unlucky" that a couple of balls just happened to miss infield gloves. Wang wasn't terrible; in fact, he retired ...Recap: Should Have Been 13-2! Mets 11- Yankees 2

The Mets completed a sweep of their shortened two-game series of the Yankees in the Bronx, drubbing them 11-2 on national television. The Yankees ace, Chien-Ming Wang was tagged for 7 runs over 7 2/3 innings, his worst outing of the year. But his line could have, and should have been even worse. In the 4th inning the Mets had already put up 3 runs when Carlos Delgado took Wang deep the ...Bad (and not in a good way)

Great game! The Mets handed the Yankees an 11-2 drubbing tonight on ESPN and made easy work of their Cy Young candidate Chien-Ming Wang. The Mets got on the board first in the fourth inning when Jose Reyes led off the inning with a double. He is quickly thrown out by Wang on a fielders choice by Marlon Anderson. O liver Perez was in complete control tonight. He held the Yankees to 3 hits and 2 runs over 7.2 innings. He kept his focus throughout the whole game and it paid off. Chien-Ming Wang had his first real bad game of the season. He had the complete opposite line than Perez giving up 7 runs, 6 hits, and 3 walks over 7.2 innings. Mets 11 Yankees 2 The Mets scored, then they scored, and then they scored some more, in spanking the last-place Yankees (gawd I loved typing that). Yes I hate interleague play and this Mets-Yankees thing is getting old, but I do enjoy watching the Yanks get spanked by the orange and blue. That 2000 World Series still stings.
