Bob Sheppard, the Yankees' public address announcer since the 1951 home opener, will not work the final opener at Yankee Stadium Monday as he continues to recover from health problems that have limited him for the past six months. Since 1951 the voice of Bob Sheppard has echoed through Yankee Stadium. This past season, due to a bronchial infection, Sheppard had to miss the ALDS. Sheppard will also miss the final Yankee Stadium home opener this season, but has promised to return sometime this summer; hopefully in time for the All-Star game.
