char6587 this is very sad..sucks sucks sucks for all nba fans -
LABallTalk you know, its just a part of basketball. injuries have hurt many teams this season and the analysts said it early, the teams to succeed this season are those that can get their injuries out of the way early and stay healthy going into the postseason. the lakers bynum went down early and yao ming went down a bit late... as Bruce Almighty once said, "thats the way the cookie crumbles" -

OrangeuaVol wow, i've had several stress fractures in both of my feet - they come up on you from out of no where. one day you're walking and doing everything really, really well then the next day you are in so much pain you feel like you've aged 50 years and are walking like a crippled person might walk. Many times though with the right treatment such as a change of shoes and if needed some new shoe inserts your feet will recuperate much faster. My pain went on for about six to nine months because I really didn't know what it was. I then went to several doctors and was told everything from a to z. I was in Las Vegas for a seminar at the MGM Grand and decided to get a massage instead of attending one of the seminar classes for that day. I told the masseuse about my foot and how many doctor visits I went to and still not completely healed. That day was the turning point for me. He pressed that heal spur out some how. I thought he was going to kill me when he pressed but evidently he knew to press so hard that it would work it out and sure enough it did. I was one happy puppy. So now if he reads this maybe he can get a good massage therapist to work it out of him...GOOD LUCK YAO!!!
Kind Regards,
mark

allonthefield How bizarre... he missed one game all season up to this point, then we find out that he's out for the year with season-ending surgery? Weird. And too bad, really, because the Rockets were playing some great ball.

Yao-ch!

The Western Conference race may have lost one contender today, as the Rockets are expected to announce Tuesday that Yao Ming will undergo season ending foot surgery to repair a stress fracture. Needless to say, this is a major blow to Houston, who have won 12 games in a row and made themselves players in the W.C. playoff race. More on this to come, I'm sure. BK
Yao Ming Out for the Season with Stress Fracture in Left Foot

... him to miss two months of action. He was having another great season, but the injury clearly disrupted his progress and left the Rockets in a bad situation come playoffs.
Now this. It's unfortunate, I really like Yao when he's healthy, but the Rockets can no longer bank on their stars making it through a season healthy. I realize this could be viewed as a big overreaction, but I'd start looking to rebuild with a more reliable center and wing.

After some time to reflect

I've now had about 3 hours to digest the Yao Ming news. A few things I have concluded: 1. The Rockets are going to make the playoffs. Even without Yao. 2. "Luis Landry" is going to step up huge for us. 3. When Yao returns in October 2008, he's going to be very, very angry. This is bad news for the rest of the NBA. While I am still heartbroken and pissed off and confused and dealing with an entire range of emotions commonly associated with grief and mourning - do not doubt for a second the talent still on this team. The Rockets ...

... It is with a very heavy heart that I must inform you that your adopted son Yao Ming was [figuratively] killed in battle on the morning of February 26, 2008, at the Toyota Center in Houston. This season has taken something from all of us, and, although your son seems to be the only casualty so far, know that we all share your pain. Your son did not die in vain. I shall persevere and make San Antonio and Utah my slaves. Because I hate those guys. I hate them so very, very much. ...

Ilgauskas may have had a cold last night, but the Rockets will be missing Yao Ming for the rest of the season . Tough blow for Houston who will have little-to-no chance of making the playoffs in the crowded West. Good news is that the team will get to see what they have in Luis Scola - and the Cavs will get to see what they missed out on by passing on him this summer. And Ming’s injury history is ...
