JS Blog link ESPN.com blurb with the reaction of an anonymous player Tom H believes this came from Mark Attanasio
My dad called me with the news from the Miller Park press box (he's covering the Cubs-Astros game for STATS). He relayed the message that Dale Sveum has been named the interim manager, but I haven't seen that in the media. EDIT: ol Pete notes the official site confirms.
I'm sure the various mods (I'm looking at you, battlekow!) will be on top of posting any relevant links as they come up. FNY, you succeeded!
[UPDATE: www.firedalesveum.com is still available, for the entrpreneurial BCB readers. Sveumed! --- ...

Yost relieved of managerial post | Brewers.com
“Relieved” sounds awfully nice when you get shit-canned tied for the Wild Card lead with a couple weeks left in the season. Third base coach Dale Sveum will take over as the interim manager.
In other words, the Brewers Wild Card hopes are kaput.

The NL Wild Card just got a bit more interesting with the Brewers firing their Manager Ned Yost while they are in the middle of a final playoff push.

Ned Yost Probably Had This Coming

But firing the manager right now? In the middle of a playoff race? Seriously? Wow. Incredible timing on the part of Brewers general manager Doug Melvin.
If anything, we thought Yost would get fired last year after the Brewers faded down the stretch and let the Cubs overtake them for the division title. Didn’t happen, obviously, and it looked like a vote of confidence for Yost and his young ball club.
So now, as the Brewers fade again (3-11 in September) and stand tied with the Phillies atop the NL wild card standings, Melvin decides to dismiss his manager.
Understandable logic. Awful timing.

The Griddle: Yost as in toast

The Milwaukee Brewers have fired manager Ned Yost with just 12 games left in the regular season and the team tied for the wild card spot. Dale Sveum will be the interim manager. Bench coach Ted Simmons was also reassigned to a different position. For a parallel, in 2000, the New Jersey Devils fired coach Robbie Ftorek with eight games left in the regular season and replaced him Larry Robinson. The Devils went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Is Harvey Kuenn available?

... ) Looks like the wheels are coming off in Milwaukee. Despite the efforts of C.C. Sabathia, who's practically carried the team on his back with his pitching, the Brew Crew look like they're headed for another September flameout. So after losing 11 of their last 14 games and falling into a tie with Philadelphia for the NL Wild Card, the Brewers announced today the firing of Ned Yost . I'm sure the folks who run ...
