Ned Yost Fired
Published 9/15/2008 by Wrigleyville (noreply@blogger.com) at wrigleyville23
Desperation time in Milwaukee: "This was a very difficult move to make, and we appreciate all of the work that Ned has done to develop this team into a contender," Melvin said. "In the end, this was a collaborative decision made to put our Club in the best position for the final two weeks of the season." We don't celebrate firings here, but one has to ask: Would the Brewers be in the "best position for the final two weeks of the season" if they had done this after last season?
Brewers Fire Ned Yost
Published 9/15/2008 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
The Brewers fired manager Ned Yost today, replacing him with third base coach Dale Sveum for the rest of the season. The timing is bizarre - the Brewers have not been playing well lately, but they are currently tied for the wild card with 12 games left to play.
Inexplicably, Ned Yost Fired
Published 9/15/2008 by Rob (noreply@blogger.com) at 6-4-2 — an Angels/Dodgers double play blog
The Brewers have fired Ned Yost (also via AP). With the Brewers still in first place for the Wild Card (albeit tied with the Phils), and the Cubs leading Houston 6-0, this is simply incredible.
Dale Sveum, the Brewers third base coach, will take over in an interim role as manager for the remainder of the season. Bench Coach Ted Simmons has been reassigned to an advisory role. Any other coaching changes will be announced later.
