The game of baseball sure has changed. It’s not everyday that you release the guy that lead your team in homers and RBIs the season before , but the Jays did. I guess it’s like the old Janet Jackson song, “What have you done for me lately?” It’s a shocker for me. Why? [link]

By Gordon Berger...The Frank Thomas situation is an interesting microcosm of baseball economics. Thomas went from being told he would have a reduced role with the Blue Jays to being released – all within a day. The Blue Jays are obligated to Thomas for $8M, who was replaced on the roster by Robinzon Diaz, a 24 year-old rookie catcher who was hitting .368 at AAA Syracuse.
