Tiger Woods still recovering from ACL surgery. Greg Norman couldn't pull it out at the British Open. Where is all the drama in golf? Apparently, it's all at the Auburn Golf Course in Washington : Nicholas Shampine, 33, of Puyallup has been charged with second-degree assault for hitting another golfer in the head with his 6-iron during an argument at Auburn Golf Course [link]

Let me just say that I'm a golf junkie. I watch. I play. I play it on my video game. I talk about it incessantly. And I used to be a golf columnist, too. I was always annoyed by the Johnny-Come-Lately golf fans who only care about golf when Tiger Woods plays. It never occurred to me what Tiger meant to golf until he's not playing.

Padraig Harrington has two British Open titles, and it all started with a miss. But it wasn't his. The morning after he defended his title at Royal Birkdale, the Irishman already was looking ahead. He now is in the same company as Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Ben Crenshaw, Dave Stockton and others who have won the same major twice.
