In a game that started off as a pitcher’s duel between Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester and St. Louis Cardinals starter Joel Piñeiro, ended in the 13th inning when Kevin Youkilis hit a 2-run walk-off homer to help the Red Sox win 5-3. The win ended a 2-game losing streak in front of 37,085 at Fenway Park. [link]

In perhaps the best game of the season, Kevin Youkilis helped the Sox avoid a sweep in a 13 inning game. Lester started the game and pitched very well, going 7-1/3 innings, with 2 runs on 9 hits, a walk and 3 strikeouts. Delcarmen came in and kept the Sox within one of the Cardinals in the 8th.
