Young '90 percent' on staying at Pitt
I chatted with a Pitt spokesman close to Pitt basketball earlier today. He told me that Pitt's junior forward Sam Young, the winner of the Big East's Most Improved Player award for this past season, is "90-percent sure" that he'll stay at Pitt for his senior season. Young, who averaged 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2007-08, saw his NBA Draft stock rise dramatically after the 6-foot-6 ... [link]

Pitt's Young Likely Staying in School
Published 4/10/2008 by Jeff at March Madness All Season
... According to Jeff Greer of SportingNews.com and The Pitt News, Pittsburgh junior forward Sam Young is likely to return to the Panthers for his senior season. Said a spokesman close to the basketball program: "I'd say it's 90 percent that Sam will stay. No one here is talking about him leaving. All they're asking about is Big East Media Day." However, the spokesman said the decision by Joe Alexander of West Virginia to enter the NBA Draft could have an effect on Young's decision, as the two went to Hargrave Military Academy together and ...

The NBA Draft outlook (04/10/08) ... Sam Young (Pitt)
Published 4/10/2008 by A.E.M. at The Orange Squeeze
Pittsburgh's Sam Young is going to remain in school and not go into the draft, that is a sure thing, or at least 90% sure. That is what people in "the know" are saying about the Big East Most Improved Player of the Year. The 6'6" junior forward, who had an average of just over 18 points and 6 rebounds per game, has to have thought about this for a while, since from the article his stock rose dramatically with his play in the Big East Tournament. ...

... they'd be this year, but then again, I didn't have a lot in the way of expectations there. He's lottery-bound. DeAndre Jordan. Agent not hired. At 7'0", 260, and athletic, he's probably going to end up in the lottery. He hasn't hired an agent, so nothing's definite, but the only thing he needs to add is size. When that's the biggest question about a guy, he usually ends up cashing lottery paychecks in the near future. Sam Young. '90%' chance he returns to school. I have no idea how ...

‘08 Way Too Early Top-25 Projections
Published 4/13/2008 by Chas at Pitt Blather -- The Rantings Continue
... . There’s still no word on whether Mike Cook will get a 6th year. According to a blog by a Pitt News Assistant Sports Editor, he is hearing it is 90-10 that Sam Young comes back to Pitt for next season . I chatted with a Pitt spokesman close to Pitt basketball earlier today. He told me that Pitt’s junior forward Sam Young, the winner of the Big East’s Most Improved Player award for this past season, is “90-percent sure” that he’ll stay at Pitt for his senior season. I still expect Young to go through the draft camps. That just makes sense as a junior. He loses nothing by ...

Bring Back The Pitt Rivalry

This is my plea to bring back the Pitt rivalry. I'm tired of hearing the stories from my father ('66 grad). Yes, the stories are great: Pitt fans dumping sodas on them @ Pitt, 48-14, the tower of ignorance, if you can't go to college go to Pitt, etc.  ...
