Unable to stabilize his diabetes, Washington Nationals first baseman Dmitri Young was placed on the 15-day disabled list after tonight's game. In Young's place, the Nationals will recall third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who was successfully able to rehabilitate a shoulder injury without surgery. The swap means that Washington loses one middle-of-the-lineup corner infielder and gains another. ... yesterday, it was determined that Pedro Martinez will not pitch on Tuesday, as had been originally hoped.  It will now be Johan Santana on Tuesday against the Phillies, to be followed by John Maine and Oliver Perez.  Martinez could pitch again next weekend.  I think Martinez owners should have been expecting this at this point, so this isn’t really earth shattering news.  Just move him to the bench until he proves he can take the mound.
