Gus Johnson Factor: Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Washington State On Notice

... game will be decided by more than 3 points. Considering that's a 12:20 game, I'm in for a very, very long day.
This pairing does however reinforce my upset pick of Winthrop over Washington State.
The other big concern (brought up by astute fan Boski93) is the altitude. Do you think Gus Johnson would have survived this UCLA-Gonzaga game from a couple years ago if it were in Denver? I don't.
His head is totally going to explode this year.

Tuesday Rundown: All Is Not Well For The Worldwide Leader
Published 3/18/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
... My take: Well, that just gave me a reason to tune into a completely meaningless game that will only determine who will end up getting slaughtered by UNC later this week. Also, if you’re interested, Awful Announcing has the announcing schedule for the opening round of the Big Dance, and the announcing teams are looking pretty solid. I’m a big fan of Kevin Harlan and Jim Nantz, and I’m also looking forward to seeing the beloved Gus Johnson call a few games in the first round. Is it Thursday yet? ...

Instead I offer my own brand of regional previews, based solely around enjoying the tournament as much as possible. I'd say "Enjoy" but that goes without saying this time of year. Previously: East Region Today we go out West. Look for South and Midwest tomorrow and Thursday morning. Gus Johnson is Announcing the Notre Dame/George Mason Game

I know there are anti-Gus Johnson people out there, but I could not be happier that he's calling the Irish and Patriots on Thursday night. Sadly, Len Elmore will be joining him with his idioitic indexes and innane insights, but hopefully Johnson cuts him off repeatedly with shrieks while politely referring to him as partner. ...

... Lastly, if anyone was wondering Gus Johnson and Len Elmore will not be at Anaheim announcing our games tomorrow night. Per the bloggers at Awful Announcing, who keep track of this sort of things, Gus and Len will be in Denver, while we will get the combination of Dick Enberg/Carter Blackburn and Jay Bilas. Works for me. Who knows may be we will get to hear Raindrops during the half time. Just like the original glory days of UCLA basketball (some of us didnt get to experience). ...

Owls May Be The Big 5's Best Chance, Thanks to Gus Johnson

... But of all the possible Philly upsets, Temple may have received the biggest boost of all when it was announced that Gus Johnson would be announcing the first round game against the Spartans (While you're at it, you may want to take a look at ORU over Pitt in the next game). Gus always seems to be on hand for some of the biggest upsets in recent college basketball history (think UCLA-Princeton in 1996, Syracuse-Vermont in 2005, UCLA-Gonzaga in 2006, and the almost upset of Ohio State-Xavier in 2007). CBS knows what they are doing when they sent Gus to Denver, and you have to ...

... Awful Announcing has helpfully listed the announcing teams for each NCAA tournament venue, and we were gonna say you gotta feel bad when your game is being broadcast by Craig Bolerjack, but then we see he's doing the Duke game and therefore pass the last-announcing-team award to Ian Eagle and Jim Spanarkel. They probably should have had it in the first place. ...

... A Tyrone Brazelton layup put WKU up 15 on Drake with 8:16 to play. They proceeded to completely fall apart, turning the ball over repeatedly. Drake scored 20 of their last 22 points in regulation from 3 and the foul line, and tied it with 35 seconds left. It should be noted that the announcers (Tim Brando and Mike Gminski) repeatedly referred to Drake's ...
