Irish Win Final Three Games, Secure Third in the Big East

(Say thanks to Card Chronicle for their handy Big East tournament bracket, which is now final.) Try as a I did, folks, I was unable to see the last three Notre Dame basketball games beyond highlights. I've read plenty of commentary on the games and have looked over the box scores far too often in an attempt to glean some significance, but it just ends up that I'm very happy pulling out two road victories previous Irish teams would have surely squandered and extended the home winning streak. Of course, the end of game runs put on by the Blue Demons and Bulls are ...

Because I’m not sure what else could explain their pathetic second half against Villanova this afternoon at the Big East Tournament. After taking a 28-27 lead into the halftime break, the Orange were completely dismantled in the second stanza as they got outscored by the Wildcats 55-35. I said earlier that I thought Syracuse could've sustained a loss and still had an outside chance at a spot in the NCAA tournament. And I still believe that was true. Syracuse dominated much of the first half against Villanova, but in the last few minutes of the half, they decided that they'd rather not keep control of the ball for more than two seconds at a time.
