Zambrano fights to give up caffeine (RR)
Published 4/14/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
Zambrano fights to give up caffeine (RR) Too bad Blue Ox went out of biz...they missed out on a great marketing deal. Zambrano laughed on Sunday morning when asked if he’d stopped drinking coffee and energy drinks, saying he now does it “under the table.” Told later that Piniella implied he was still drinking too much of the caffeinated beverages, Zambrano raised his eyebrows. “You think Lou lives in my house in Chicago?” he said with a grin. Zambrano said he has cut back significantly but admitted it was a difficult task. Still, he knows he has to do it to prevent the ...

Lou on the Red Bull
Published 4/14/2008 by Goldy at Chuckie Hacks
... In an article in today's Chicago Tribune about Zambrano's caffeine problems, Pinella provides a humorous quote: "I've never had Red Bull in my life, but I've actually seen people at a bar order Red Bull and vodka," Piniella said. "I can't comprehend that. If I had a couple of those things, I'd be like the malt liquor bull (from the old TV commercials) leaving the bar. My lord." That's awesome. I would hope Billy Dee Williams would be involved in some capacity. Cold Cock! Now Lou states that he would be like the bull after a couple. But what if he had 10 plus Red Bull and ...

Lou Piniella is rightly afraid of Red Bull's effects
Published 4/14/2008 at Big League Stew
Well, this seals it. The greatest byproduct of this whole "Carlos Zambrano drinks too much caffeine" story is that it has allowed Lou Piniella to expound on what Red Bull can do to a person. Says Piniella about the popular energy drink: "I've never had Red Bull in my life, but I've actually seen people at a bar order Red Bull and vodka. I can't comprehend that. If I had a couple of those things, I'd be like the malt liquor bull (from the old TV commercials) leaving the bar. My lord." Man, did I enjoy that ...
