Former college tennis players give back with charity events

Tis’ the season to be jolly -- and charitable. A number of former college tennis players are taking that seriously by hosting (or participating in) events that will benefit their favorite causes.

For college tennis, the early period just ended for players to sign a National Letter of Intent to play on a 2010 team. Players can still sign in the regular period (April 14-August 1), but many chose to make an early commmitment. Here's some top junior players and where they are going next year:

New national champs emerge from ITA Indoors

Field set for ITA National Indoor Championships

The field is set for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, to be held at Yale University November 5-8th. The event will feature 32 players in each men's and women's single draw and 16 teams for each doubles.

Small college players take Superbowl to Indoors

There isn't another tournament like it. It's a college tennis event in a category of its own and it's deserving of duplication in other sports. The event I'm referring to is the ITA National Small College Championships, a tournament that involves every college division.

Tennessee's Smith Sweeps D'Novo/ITA All American

Former college player Travis Parrot takes title at Open

Double trouble on the U.S. Open courts
