Ozzie Guillen gets a bad rap with the Chicago and national media, but the fact is, he knows more about baseball than Jay Mariotti or Bud Selig. You may not agree with me, but keep in mind that the best managers in the game all act the same way - Guillen, Pinella, Sciosia, Leyland, LaRussa. It's no coincidence. Managers are much more important than the media would have you believe.

The St. Paul Saints are switching things up a bit - instead of the time-honored minor league tradition of a "Giveaway Night," the Saints have announced "Takeaway Night." The first 2,500 fans that enter the gates will have something "taken away" from them in support of this worthy cause. Fans are asked to bring in new or used school supplies that will be donated to children in need.

The Grand Prairie Airhogs have announced Jessica Simpson Day. The stadium have a Simpson-themed atmosphere - her music and reality show highlights playing during the game, two-dollar margaritas, and a special prize for the best lookalike. $1 admission will be offered to spectators who enter the stadium dressed in Jessica's likeness, including any fan who wears a pink Dallas Cowboys jersey.

If you had been watching the series "Playing for Peanuts" on SNY, you aren't anymore. The producer has pulled it in a dispute with the channel over its lack of promotion for the show. "Playing for Peanuts" follows Wally Backman's minor league team during the 2007 season. Appearances include Cecil Fielder, Ron Darling, Conor Jackson and Phil Plantier. SNY is the TV home of the New York Mets.

New York Mets TV Network Refuses Promotion for Minor League TV Series

Award-winning producer John Fitzgerald has pulled his new baseball TV series off the air, following a dispute with New York Mets' flagship network, SportsNet New York (SNY). Over the course of seven weeks, SNY did not air a single commercial for the show and did not allow broadcasters to mention the show during Mets games, even though Mets broadcaster Ron Darling actually appears in the show.
