The 2nd half of the 2008 season will kick off on Thursday night.  And your’s truly H30 is kind of upset about what’s going on in the game of baseball.  Last night in the All Star game you had all the legend’s come out and be cheered by the fans of Yankee Stadium.  A good volume of there were African Americans.  Eddie Murry,Dave Winfield,Willie Mays,Hank Aaron etc.  Major League Baseball to me has lost a whole generation of up and coming black baseball talent.  The numbers are just mind blowing.  Thirty years ago there at least 28% African Americans playing baseball.  Now it is down to under 10%.  The Detriot Tigers Center Fielder Curtis Granderson had this to say. ” College team I was by myself, Tee ball by myself , couple little league teams and All Star teams by myself.”

Not only have the baseball players of the African American have left.  But the fans are now no longer coming. ” Count how many fans are black that are in the stands that aren’t working.” Curtis Granderson Detriot Tigers.  It pains me that MVP baseball players Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard could walk down the block and the average African American kid won’t even know them.  But they will know who Adam” don’t call me Pacman” Jones.  It’s a disgrace on what Bud “the dud” Selig has done to the sport.  Yeah hooray you are getting great numbers but you know what part of this sport was build on such great players as Josh Gibson, Jackie Robinson, Kurby Puckett etc.  And now what really painful to hear is that you got African Americans that want to play but they’re getting black balled.  Angels owner Arte Moreno had this to say when ask about maybe putting Barry Bonds on his team.”We have turned the page and move on.”  Moreno you are the owner but you will not win a world series due to you cannot hit.  And now let’s take a look at another African American ball player who can’t get on a team, and this is Kenny Lofton. Lofton last season in 2007 help beat the New York Yankees in the post season with his outstanding play.

In game one of the 2007 ALDS against New York, he went 3-4 with 4 RBIs and 1 stolen base, tying him with Ricky Henderson for Major League Baseball’s all-time post-season stolen bases record (33). In game two, he went 2 for 3 with two walks and scored the winning run in the 11th inning.

In game three of the 2007 ALCS, he hit a 2-run homer to right-center field against the Boston Red Sox.

In game four of the 2007 ALCS, Lofton earned his 34th career post-season stolen base, setting a new MLB record for playoff steals.  So for the few blacks that are in the game the two can actually play baseball at a high level can’t even get in. Are you trying to tell me that Jason Giambi is more productive than Barry Bonds?  Where is the investigation by the baseball players union? this is garbage on how the MLB has treated the black baseball player and has failed to market this black community.

5.  The Boston backcout of Allen, House ,Rondo, Cassell will fall short matching up against Bryant,Fisher,Farmer.

4. The Lakers have not played a good 48 minute game yet in the Finals.  Look for this top seed in the Western Conference to finally have play a top notch 48 minute game.

3. Kendrick Perkins is hurt.  Perkins has been a key player for the Celtics.  Espcially when it comes to the inside defense.  The Celtics don’t rebound like they suppose to.  Game 5 the Celitcs got out rebounded that has never happened and that was due to Kendrick Perkins, being out.

2.  Kobe Bryant will have that show out game.  Bryant will have a NBA Finals game for the ages.  Bryant is due.  Bryant is the closes player to Jordan.  Look for Bryant to score 45 or better.

1. The biggest reason why the Lakers will win.  The Boston Celtics will have all the pressure on them.  It’s been since 1986 since they’ve won a title. Look for all the old greats to be there.  Russell,Cousy,Bird etc.  The 2007/08 Celitcs will feel the pressure and will play tight.  Thats why look for the Lakers to win in overtime and force a game 7.

****SIGH****   I wonder what was going through the Shaquille O’Neal’s mind as he watched the Lakers walk off the court last night giving up game 4 at home with a 24 point lead.  I think one thing that all Laker fans has to say to themselves is”I SURE MISS THE BIG SHAQ.”  You see with Shaq guys Powe,Perkins,P.J.Brown, Garnett.  Wouldn’t dominate the boards go to the whole with such ease and we would’ve never blown a 24 point lead at home.  But Laker fans you brought this all on yourself.  I love to hear you cocky Laker fans say” WE DON”T NEED HIM HE IS WASHED UP.” Now look at you, Pau GaSol, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton..LOL. You guys are so soft in the inside that you’ve been so exposed by the Celtics all you have to do with the Lakers is hit them in the mouth. That would’ve never had happened if Shaquille O’Neal was on the court. But Laker fans you can heal this. Laker nation” GET ON YOUR KNEES ALONG WITH KOBE,PHIL JACKSON, JACK NICHOLSON AND ALL YOU LAKER FANS OUT THERE. Pull out the Shaq posters and say we are sorry we didn’t mean the things that we say about you.  If you do that Shaq might forgive you and you can then go on to win a championship. If not things like last night will continue to happened the cures of the bambino.  Now the cures of SHAQUILLE O’NEAL.

My man Doc Rivers.  I got mad love for you. But you blew game 3.  There were four things in this game you missed.

4.  When Paul Pierce got his 5th foul early in the 4th quarter keep him in the game.  Doc you over coaching on that one.  You should’ve trust Paul Pierce enough to not get a 6th called on him.

3. Speak to Kevin Garnett.  I know this is really being a jerk about this, but tell Garnett to stop shooting jumpers and take the”DAMN” ball to the hole .  GaSol is soft and Garnett would’ve been more effective.

2. Eddie House in the second half was doing a good job.  House was being aggressive and by doing that was creating shots for the other Celtics.  Raja Rondo who went out with and ankel injury. At times in the game was timid.  House came in shooting and the Lakers had to respect his shot.  When Rondo came back in the game the Lakers played 4 on 5 they knew Rondo was not going to shoot.  Bottom line Doc should’ve kept House in the game.

1. ***SIGH*** There is no way in all of basketball do you not double Kobe Bryant.  With 1 plus mintues left in the game. You must double Byrant and make someone else on the Lakers beat you.  Ray Allen cannot hold Kobe socks up therefore he cannot guard Kobe one on one.  No one in the NBA can guard this guy one on one.  Bryant should’ve been forced to give up the ball and make Odom,GaSol, Fisher, etc beat you. Not Kobe Byrant and to being guard one on one by Ray Allen? No Doc that aint going to work.

Paul Pierce last night had one of the greatest comebacks in NBA Finals history, or was he pulling one on the Lakers?  It was amazing to see Pierce go down with a knee injury.  And just like Willis Reed 38 years ago come out the tunnel hitting shots.  And helping the Celtics take a 1-0 lead in the best of 7.  To me personaly kind of suspesious.  I know its looks like I’m trying to hate on Pierce, but it just looks real phony.  I mean now you’re hearing this one of the great comeback injuires in NBA Finals history.  Its being compared to Isaiah Thomas,Micheal Jordan and the nerve of anyone with a NBA brain to comapre this to Willis Reed.  Pierce you had a good game but on the low was you fakin the funk? Only time will tell.

All I have to say Spector is the only guy to show some heart.  Look at this whole spy gate mess and the best reason for the taping by the Patriots is we didn’t understand the rules?  WTF.. who are the Patriots fooling? Bill Belechick who has been in the NFL for over half of his life, now is saying that he didn’t understand the rules? Arlen Spector who is a senator for Pennsylvania and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan has been putting heat on Roger Goodell “ASS” to look into this whole spy gate aka cheating Patriots.  The funny thing about this whole spy gate mess is that Roger Goodell with all this integrity talk is now sounding like he is full of S&*(t.  Remeber Mike Vick oh he is such a bad stain on the NFL and we have to keep a face so Vick you’re suspended.  Roger Goodell you’re a “PUNK” and need to be impeached ASAP. Just in case there you think I’m just pouring hateraid check out what your man Joey Porter says about spy gate.

Pacman Jones says he is a change man? That’s what he said on the Micheal Irvin show yesterday in Dallas. I have learned my lesson I won’t go to strip clubs and focus on football right?  This Sunday March.  30th Jones will be hosting a party that starts at 12am to 6am you know what I am just speechless this flat out a N*&^%A moment and why is it saying on the flyer we gon make it rain ? Roger Goodell please don’t let this THUG back in the NFL.

WTF happened to Lebron James Public Relations people? To allow this photo to be on the cover of Vouge magazine.  James is only the third sportsmen to grace the cover and when he does has to look like Donkey Kong?  This is a disgrace to black folks and James and his Public Relations should feel ashamed of themselves. In the words of Larry Fishburn in School Daze…. WAKE UP !!!!!!

Yeah ok I know he average 23 points per game and has won numerous college regular season awards that's why he is getting his number retired but tell me something has this guy Hansbrough in the tournament ever been a reason why the UNC been in a final four because of his play? I mean Roy Williams please for Williams to make a statement that it is going to be a pleasure to look up and see his uniform on the first row next to Sam Perkins,James Worthy and Micheal Jordan that this kid Hansbrough has a right to be next to these ball players is a JOKE and for UNC to make this decsion while Hansbrough is still in Junior season is a JOKE. I don't care what kind PR move you people at UNC put together this kid Hansbrough will not get drafted in the first 10 pick if he does the GM of that NBA team will loose his job. Hansbrough prove me wrong and take the UNC to a final four in this year's tournament and then we can talk about getting your number retired but other than UNC this guy Hansbrough does deserve to get his number retired.

It is black history month so why not honor the 1st tag team African Americans in WWF history . Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson on November 15th 1983 defeated the Wild Somans to become the WWF tag team champions.  The title regin was from Nov 15, 1983-Apr 17 1984.  As we all know Rocky Johnson is the father of the one and only Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and Tony Atlas has been seen doing some fitness tours around the country, but who will ever forget Vince McMahon as broacaster screaming out Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson the new WWF tag team champions of the world.

It is being reported that Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling maybe out for the year do to a shoulder injury.  Schilling who just sign a year deal to come back to the Red Sox.  The Red Sox management can’t be happy due to they did have a deal for Johan Santana on the table and pulled off due to being ok pitching wise.  There are rumors that Schilling knew about this injury and did not let the Red Sox know.  Stay tuned to SideLineShow.com for more details.

Jerry Reese the New York Giants General Manager is the first African American GM to win a Super Bowl.  Reese help put this young talent together Aaron Ross all the way to the kicker Lawrence Tynes.  This story of him being the 1st black GM is important maybe we can get more minorites a chance to be in upper management.  If I am a NFL owner I really need to be more open minded in my selection in putting together my ownership.  Last season we had two black head coaches in the Super Bowl and this season the 1st black General Manager to win a Super Bowl.  I will at least before I thank of hiring someone to run my team at least take deep consideration in looking at a minority.  Happy Black History Month !!!

Domenik Hixon will give the Giants the edge in the SuperBowl in special teams.  Hixon has had big time returns during the giants run.  Hixon broke out on week 17 by runing back a touchdown for the G-Men to helped the giants become a force to be messed with on the special teams and Hixon also recovered a big time fumbel in the GreenBay game the would’ve set up Farve and the Packers at mid field with 2 minutes to go and the Packers could have won the game.  Eventhough the Patriots have Wes Welker who had done and outstanding job for the Patriots in Special Teams the edge goes to the Giants.  Tomorow we will take a look at the running back to see who has the advantage.
