ModernTube: MLB imagines Gateway Arch as giant magnet
Big League Stew —
Yeah, there are a few appearances by non All-Stars (Ortiz and Reyes) and at least one Yahooligan thinks several people may have died during its filming, but the latest All-Star commercial featuring the Gatway Arch as a talent magnet gets a solid 'A' from our little corner of the baseball world. Anyone know how I can arrange for similar transportation to St. Louis? Major League Baseball gets a lot of well-deserved guff for coming up short on its marketing efforts, but I've enjoyed its All-Star commercials for the past couple of seasons. Who even knew that Bud Selig was a fan of Carolina Liar or Silversun Pickups? ...
Tonight's Questions
Walkoff Walk —
WHY did that hilariously oversized monument magnet pick up non-All Stars like David Ortiz and Ryan Theriot and drag their asses all the way to St. Lou? Did they have a hankering for frozen custard?
WILL Kevin Millwood make up for his All Star Game snub and prove his worth against fellow snubbee Jered Weaver? It's a battle for first in the AL West, y'all.
WHICH eight-lettered fella will come out on top when Matt Cain leads the Giants against ...

Drunk Jays Fans —
Since God won't be picking anyone up directly, the onus is on you to show up for the biggest All-Star party outside of St. Louis. Mark your calendars for Opera Bob's Public House one week from today. The official timing of the first pitch pool is underway in the comments section. ...
All Star Commercial Is Magnetic
Intentional Foul —
The MLB’s All Star celebration is about a week away, and with that comes the obligatory marketing push. Commercials, print ads, ESPN spots; you name it, advertising-wise, and the MLB is probably using it to get the word out about the baseball party in St. Louis. One such method — the Fox commercial — is being met with some less-than-enthusiastic response, especially from our friends at Major League Jerk. Hef thinks the above commercial is perhaps the Worst Commercial Ever; and while I can see the reason for this sentiment, I’m leaning more towards ...
Who were the Ad Wizards who came up with this one?
Outside the Boxscore —
Usually, I am a fan of commercials that deal with Major League Baseball but this recent one for the 2009 MLB All Star Game in St. Louis has got me really confused. The commercial uses the St Louis Arch as a "magnet." Yep, I said it, "a magnet." It picks up fans from various locations and then drops them off at Busch Stadium. Clearly, the person of this idea should just be let go since if this is the best you can come up with, you are seriously trying to hard. I repeat, "Who are the Ad Wizards who came up with this one?" ...
Video: MLB All Star Game Commercial for 2009
SPORT'S WITH MR. FACTOID —
The Gateway City is buzzing this week as we prepare for the MLB All-Star Game this coming Tuesday at gorgeous Busch Stadium! The folks here in St. Louis are proud to welcome the nation to our home, and we are especially excited because our shining star, and the majors best player, Albert Pujols was the leading vote getter in both the American and National league. He and Yadier Molina, who by the way is the best defensive catcher in baseball, will have the opportunity to start the mid summer classic. Fat Albert will also be featured in the Homerun Derby, an event that he may very well win!
MLB All-Star Game Commerical: Magnet-y
MOUTHPIECE Blog // A Chicago-Addled Sports Blog —
I’m not going to say I don’t like this commercial for the 2009 All-Star Game in St. Louis next week, but I am going to say I’m slightly terrified by it. The Arch becomes a magnet. The magnet grabs fans and players in ballparks, and dumps them at Busch Stadium. Oh, and this one dude takes a picture of himself while firmly adhered to the magnet, indicating that he is somehow having fun. DUDE, I WOULD BE SCREAMING FOR MY LIFE.
Anyway, yeah, here it is:

MLB All-Star Game Commercials: Where Crap-on-a-Stick Happens
The Sports Hernia Blog —
Astonishingly, after the pitch for this All-Star game commercial was made, actual executives from both Fox and MLB, with frighteningly real power, shouted "precisely!" in unison. The following is what that mouthwatering pitch likely entailed:"I want you to close your eyes and picture the scene with me. Derek Jeter and Ryan Howard will be innocently standing there at first base when the St. Louis Arch will come out of nowhere and suddenly pull them into the air as it's miraculously become ... a flying magnet! A magnet that will obviously be guided by the gentle hand of God, since Cardinals All-Star Albert Pujols can summon him at any time. The blessed arch ...
