Holy fuck: The Masters’ theme has words!
Published 4/11/2008 by Ink Jet at The Meaningful Collateral
We’ve all heard the song before, the Masters music they play over and over and over and over again all weekend. And until three days ago I had no clue there were lyrics.
But lo and behold, there are. And now you’ll hear, the REST of the story.
Apparently in 1980, after some sort of inspiring visit to the course, Dave Loggins (cousin of Kenny) penned the song “Augusta” with fancy words and cool instrumentals. CBS liked it, but didn’t want the lyrics, so you’ve never heard them.
Until now, thanks to the crack TMC staff that was, until three minutes ago, eating Jujubees. ...
Now, Sing Along With The Masters [The Masters]
Published 4/11/2008 by DAULERIO at Deadspin
You know you've thought to yourself each time you've plopped in front of a couch to watch The Masters, 'Hey, I wonder if anybody's ever penned some pussymouthed lyrics to go with that morose piano tinkling they always play?'
Well, potato chip-inhaling ruminator, there are. And thanks to the crew at The Meaningful Collateral, you can listen to the Masters theme as it was originally intended: with treacly words.
According to TMC, the song and lyrics were written by one Dave Loggins, less successful and more bearded brother of Footloose craftsman, Kenny. The ...
Will Trevor Immelman Pull A Greg Norman? [Masters Final Round Open Thread]

Who knew? There's actual lyrics to the Augusta melody that by now is repeating over and over in your head. Let's be thankful they don't play the actual vocals along with it for I still enjoy the background music as Jim Nantz walks us through the course.
Trevor Immelman leads by a not-so-comfortable two strokes heading into today's very windy Masters Final Round. The way he's been playing, it's doubtful we'll see a Greg Norman-like collapse, but that's what it will take for Tiger Woods to have a chance.
12 years ago Greg Norman led Nick Faldo by six strokes, only to go ...
Dave Loggins “Augusta” Video
Published 4/14/2008 at Golf Blogger
April 13, 2008 Here’s a video to Dave Loggins “Augusta”, the song whose instrumental version permeates the broadcasts of The Masters. Lyrics are below: Well, it’s springtime in the valley on Magnolia Lane It’s the Augusta National and the master of the game Who’ll wear that green coat on Sunday afternoon? Who’ll walk the 18th fairway singing this tune? Augusta, your dogwoods and pines They play on my mind like a song Augusta, it’s you that I love And it’s you that I’ll miss when I’m gone. It’s Watson, Byron Nelson, Demaret, Player and Snead It’s Amen Corner and it’s Hogan’s perfect swing It’s Sarazen’s double eagle at the ...
