"They're Hamered. They're Just Clearly Hammered."
AwfulAnnouncing —
Again, the 11pm Sports Center comes with the funny. Robert Flores and Scott Van Pelt were doing the Top 10 and an amazing play by a Quinnipiac outfielder was at number one. As the guy's flips over the fence his friends who were standing in the outfield for some reason run over to help the fielder...hilarity ensues.... ...
Scott Van Pelt Is Funny, Honest
FanIQ Blog —
Thanks to Awful Announcing for putting this video up. Last night Robert Flores and Scott Van Pelt were taking us through some Top 10 highlights over the weekend and Brian Monack's catch was absolutely ridiculous.
Anyways, that's not really the point of this post. The point is that I laughed out loud, in a good way, while watching Sportscenter thanks to Scott Van Pelt. This used to happen regularly during the mid 90's, but not so much anymore.
Just another example that SVP is the best thing the WWL has going for them. If they ...

Ballgirls In The Pacific Coast League Are Especially Nimble [Leapin' Lizards]
Deadspin —
Here's a video that's been making the rounds the past couple of days, showing a ballgirl making a rather unbelievable catch of a foul ball during a Fresno Grizzlies game at Chukchansi Park. Pretty impressive; even when you discover that it was staged. It's actually a Gatorade commercial which was filmed following a regularly-scheduled game between the Grizzlies and the Tacoma Rainers. But it had — and continues to have — a lot of people fooled. "The production company “leaked” the video onto the Internet over the weekend hoping for a viral effect, and considering the number ...

This Is Just Ridiculous
Music City Miracles —
My dad sent this to me this morning. It is a Gatorade commercial, so it isn't real, but it is still pretty cool.
Reminder from the Past
Bob's Blog - Live from Lewisville —
Blogging this morning takes me to a rewind of a Rangers opinion I have had for years: Joaquin Benoit is a spare. Yes, he has a few moments of brilliance that covers up his sparedom, but trust me, the man who has been with the Rangers since 1996 has always been a tease. But far too often, in those rare occasions where the Rangers really need him to deliver, he proves that he is not to be counted on. Sorry, but I have watched him for far too long to be surprised when he takes a great game and makes it frustrating. He is a fine mop up pitcher when you are down 6-2, but not in a 2-1 game. But Eric ...
Don’t Be So Gullible
The Urban Backpacker —
A couple of days ago, a co-worker of mine sent me a link to the above video of a supposed ball girl’s unbelievable catch. Key word: unbelievable. My co-worker was wholeheartedly convinced the catch was real, and he wasn't the only one. But seriously? A ball girl making a Spiderman-esque catch like that? Come on now. It may look somewhat realistic, but I was skeptical from the get-go. First off, for a TV broadcast, the announcer’s voice should be cleaner. It sounds as though he’s being picked up on a staticy radio. Next, after the girl climbs the wall, she seems to float back down to the ...

Not really. Turns out this whole thing was put on by the local media in D.C. for their Redskins pre-season package. I still find these things entertaining, especially this one.
Online Video Report: A New Storytelling Device?
Playing for Peanuts Blog —
The editing of "Playing for Peanuts" is over - all 10 excruciatingly painful episodes. It was a learning experience to spend one year sifting through footage from the biggest mistake of my life. Luckily for me, I am now entrenched in the even more meticulously ridiculous process of creating the Peanuts DVD. Aside from a few nasty emails from people who pre-ordered the DVD over the summer (for the special price of $9.99 - which works out to approximately 2 center per minute of video on the DVD) , things are going well. Anyway, I've suspended the online release of the show until the DVD is finished (soon!). ...
DUI video shows Joba failing test, being fooled by viral video
Big League Stew —
Attention all baseball-crime types: The Smoking Gun has posted video and a detailed account of Joba Chamberlain's DUI arrest from last fall. While the release doesn't match Tony La Russa's clip in terms of "Am I really seeing this?" factor, it's definitely worth a curious look if that's your type of thing, mostly because it seems that not even Yankee wunderkinds are immune from being duped from funny online videos produced by Reno 911. From The Smoking Gun: "While seated in the police cruiser's front seat, Chamberlain, 23, was ...
